Celebrini is fantastic offensively but Im not sure he has the same toolbox that way- and a lot of his appeal is his commitment to playing a sound 200 foot game- which sometimes can mean a limitation on production. Hes a rare talent though- maybe he can elevate his offense past that- Im not sure its a given at this point though- just my opinion. In any case its possible- will be interesting to watch...
fair enough, I'm no scout - But Celebrini did break the record for goals - 2 more than Fantilli (yes in two more games played) - he also outscored scored Fantilli playing with the Chicago steel and in international play.
    absolutely on the 200ft play
i just think that doing what Celebrini did as one of the youngest in his draft class needs to be considered vs Fantilli as one of the oldest in his.

Hockey News projected him best case as Elias Pettersson. Not bad.

Lidstrom is projected as Mikko Rantanen,… hope the Habs will get him.

Just for the record hes a divisive guy- Rantanen is the upside but Elias Lindholm is the base...

Thats a fair point- Ill acknowledge that. Im still higher on Fantilli here but at this point maybe its just my bias/my digging in.

Either way I LOVE the context here- and that absolutely belongs in the argument- fantastic point!

Love to see it but that might be stretching it a bit. Maybe in terms of being the face of turning thier franchise back around…

He does- but the other comp is Hischier. I think hes talking about a player whose elite offensively AND defensively moreso than hes referenicng upside... but then again thats just my take- maybe he sees something bigger there...

Celebrini is put in the same tier as Michkov and Fantilli - "Elite NHL player" - by Pronman, with a stylistic comparison to Crosby - no real flaws in his game.

Fair enough- he had a big year- Im just saying as a guy who listened all year- some of these guys have really come around his upside. I wont lisdt all the other player comps to "win an argument" but I imagine if youre this invested in him youve read what the other top guys are saying. Theyre fans- but not at a Crosby level- theres an advisement for caution. Ftr- Id LOVE if he hit for that level of upside. I just tend to aggregate my opinion and pronmans is an outlier... said respectfully...
    Weekly hth league- 2c, 3w,1 ff (forward only flex), 4d, 1g, and one true flex. Sog/goal weighted for skaters: G4, A3, Sog1, PPP+1. +/- adds/minuses one for F/3 for D. Workhorse starters = GOLD!

We are a full dynasty keeper BUT we only protect 8 (9 if you miss playoffs)- which means that you can lose ONE player outside that range each year to the steal round.
C- Hughes(J), Crosby, McMichael, Buchnevich (C/W), Carlsson (Frm), Wright (Frm)

D- Werenski, Clarke, Carlsson, Orlov, Hughes (L)
G- Swayman, Sorokin, Kuemper, Fedotov, Nabokov (Frm)

I'm not invested in Celebrini. I just tried clearing up what Pronman had in his report. He doesn't have Celebrini at Crosby-level, as far as I can tell. It's a similar type of player, but not a generational talent like Crosby. It's possible Celebrini has that upside, but the "Elite NHL player" category means Fantilli/Michkov level of talent (a tier above Leo Carlsson).

This is part of the reason I made the poll - to be able to put Celebrini in relation to earlier draft classes. Helps to have some structure and rankings.

If theres a counter-point on the Celebrini being a top level scoring VS Just a consistently very, very good one... its THAT. The age thing. In these early years when the improvement is happening at an exponential rate- the fact that he made the impact he did while almost being a full calendar year YOUNGER than a lot of his peers and player comps- should stand out. Its compelling.

I said it on a different thread- but to me he looks like a 90% chance at being Hischier aka ppg player with a couple seasons where he cracks 90 or even a hundred... and about a 10% chance that his age/development has masked something thats hgetting more into that Jack Hughes range. Im not betting my house on it BUT hes clearly an exceptional player with a range of outcomes that hit a lot higher than were used to seeing. If its me Im drafting for Hischier and quietly hoping for more...
