    https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/da...-trade-targets

"Sources say Verbeek has mentioned Zegras’ name in conversation with teams this season, though it remains unclear how far (if at all) those talks advanced."

Also Dreger saying something similar, that he could be in play soon https://twitter.com/rayanddregs/stat...97130055651636

Zegras and the Ducks have had sort of a strained relationship for a while. The contract negotiations in the summer were not smooth and I remember Friedman saying he wondered down the road if it was something that would lead to a trade (he also interestingly referred to Drysdale, who was just moved, in a similar way)

    It's very possible.

    Main notes:
    1. Zegras is a 2019 draft pick. This pre-dates Verbeek (Feb 2022). GMs love "their guys".
    2. With Gauthier incoming, you potentially have a LH shot that is better than Zegras'.
    3. You've got Carlsson/Terry/McTavish... so you only need a 4th high-end forward on PP1.
    4. Zegras - I believe - is more "fancy" than "elite". I can't really say I've ever truly studied his defensive-side/two-way game.

Verbeek - aka "Little Ball of Hate" - probably wants a little more "grit" to his players.
So a Cutter Gauthier >> the likes of Zegras and Drysdale types as far as "type".

    With Zegras signing the GM-friendly "bridge" at $5.75m x 3yr... it's a sign.

It really wouldn't surprise me to see ANA move him.
What do people speculate is "fair return value" out there?

How many of their draft picks would the Chicago Blackhawks be willing to move for the final two years of his contract + RFA status?
And would that be a good-match?
(Best one I thought of from top of my head.)

Gauthier in... Zegras out.... I could definitely see this happen.

I like the suggestion of Chicago making a move for him.
Zegras fancy stick work along side Bedard.

or Zegras was in play for Gauthier before they settled on Drysdale...

Do you know if he aggravated his old injury or something different?

He got tripped up and fell awkwardly. Didn't look too bad, but had to be helped off.

I'm fairly sure Zegras will get traded. He's incredibly skilled and may pop on another team, but he doesn't seem to fit on Anaheim.

I wonder what Detroit would have to give up for Zegras?

It takes all kinds of players to win the cup. Phil Kessel won three cups and I think most people would conclude he wasn't the type of player needed to win. The issue is you can't have a whole team of Kessels.
