I'd love to see him in Chicago. They desperately need a playmaker or two.

Is there even a guy on Chicago that Detroit would want for Berggren?
Is there a reason why Berggren isn't in the NHL? Like what's his fault? Is it that they don't have a top 6 role for him and they don't think he can be an NHLer on the 3rd line? What's the fault? I don't know much about him..

Three Statistical Points of Intrigue on Berggren:
1. He has 86pts in 93gp in the AHL. Nearly a point-per-game scorer!
2. He is a combined -31 in those 93gp.
3. Do the math on the number of goals against he'd have to be on for to achieve this.

Sounds like the guy doesn't want to play defense... at the AHL level.
I think there'll be less interest in him than people think.
The NHL, like most sports, is about having a higher tally of points FOR than against... thus, its about being net-positive (score more goals than you give up).
Forwards that can't contribute defensively don't have value in the NHL unless they are absolutely dynamic (ex. Mogilny, Kovalchuk, etc.)
So he has 30ppp out of those 86pts in 93 AHL games.
So even when you take into account those for goals for, he's still on the ice for more goals against than for it seems. I'm thinking like the Erik Karlsson effect on the ice where last yr he was a big minus but contributed a ton on the PP and was still a net positive. Berggren seems like a net negative when he plays.

As a Wings fan and a fantasy GM who went out of my way to ensure Berggren was part of a larger deal just to get a future core Red Wing on my fantasy squad...
I strongly believe that, given Stevie Y's recent free agent signings, there's limited opportunity in the top 6-9 for a player of Berggren's type now. As a smaller-bodied, pure IQ/playmaker, he faces stiff competition with Raymond, Perron, Debrincat, Fabbri, and now Kane already occupying the top 9. While I believe that Berggren only falls behind Debrincat and Kane in terms of raw IQ, it appears Stevie and the team prefer giving Fabbri another kick at the can (and rightly so - he's having one heck of a revival season so far) and larger bodies to complement the lineup.
It makes logical sense to maximize Berggren's potential before he ages another year and enters negotiations for a one-way contract next summer. His readiness to transition into a full-time top 6/9 NHLer and PP specialist is evident, and I'm sure there are more than a few teams interested in his abilities and near elite offensive potential. He's obviously outgrowing the AHL level, and as a fantasy owner, I'm hopeful for a trade sooner rather than later. With his contract up this summer he's probably requested a trade in an effort to actually get a real chance to show what he can do.
The -31 in the AHL is a bit of a poor indicator - if you look at his seasons in Grand Rapids... he was all alone down there in his first season (when he lead the team in scoring by quite a longshot as a rookie but finished -18), and the following season (-7 in 7 games) was no better with respect to the team strength save and except an injection of half a dozen young rookies that only exacerbated the teams defensive woes. Then in his first real NHL season last year (-14 in 67 GP) -- only four players finished with a positive +/-. That was the main reason Stevie did what he did this off-season... a complete veteran overhaul throughout the lineup - which seems to be paying off (so far).
I've watched him and the Wings close enough to see he's not a real defensive liability out there - he's got a very smart stick, positions himself well and makes a smart first pass whenever he gets the puck - he's just not going sacrifice his body to make a hit or block many shots out there - something the Wings were (and still) lack in their forward group - players built for playoff hockey.
The Wings don't have one player in the top 9 with more than 21 hits (after 26 GP) and unless they want to follow the Leafs like a drunkard leaning against a lamp-post into the land of advanced metrics while failing time and time again in the playoffs they need a further shakeup to their forward group; Copp has completely changed the way he plays (to his own detriment) and is no longer a physical presence out there. Players like Sprong, Fabbri and Kane aren't going into a corner anytime soon (it's only a matter of time before Fabbri is hurt again). Veleno has been a pleasant surprise this year taking another step but is still lacking in the NHL calibre IQ department and there is only so much Larkin, Debrincat and Raymond can do as the only offensively gifted and willing to get dirty type players out there (and Larkin keeps getting hurt for his efforts this season).
It seems as though there is almost one player on every team in need of a change of scenery right now (heck, I've got half of them on my one and only fantasy team!) - Berggren just happens to be the guy in the Wings org.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up... CHI, ANH, TB or PIT are in need and would be nice (fingers crossed not SJ, PHI, CGY, DAL or ARI!!!).

It's not unreasonable if he's asked for a trade to get a better shot at NHL games, and that they're looking for trade partners. Not necessarily red flags beyond that he hasn't earned a spot on the Red Wings yet. I wonder if San Jose would be interested?
Another item I just thought of... and confirmed...
Berggren isn't a StevieY pick.
So... no credit to Yzerman for this guy panning out.
(All GMs are partial to what's theirs)
Berggren is a Holland-era pick... same 2018 draft that included Filip Zadina.
33rd overall.
(Impressive... is that Joe Veleno was somehow able to nose his way into the Wings future. He's also from that 2018 draft, at 30th overall)
