I don't know enough about the final three to confidently rank them.

How do you rank these D on long term?

Edvinsson, Clarke, Sanderson are in somewhat interchangeable situations. They're all behind or playing against talented internal competition. Jiricek would be top but the logjam on that team is arguably the worst I've ever seen. Hughes has only Hamilton in front of him and it's easy to see a scenario where Hamilton, being better on defense, concedes some minutes at the other end to Hughes and makes it a fairly even split of opportunity this season. Clarke is most likely of the 3 after that to get the better deployment. The Ottawa scenario is cloudy at best, Sanderson could run away with the job or he could be sharing with Chychrun and/or Chabot whatever is left after they decide who is pp1. Edvinsson has the upside but it's unlikely he will realize that year one. I could see him being #3 in a couple years though. Guhle doesn't really belong in the same conversation imo. Thrun will likely have all year to show what he can do... but it's SJ so. Moser and Faber seem like more "flash in the pan" types that will settle into modest numbers that are still decent and good if you count peripherals.

(Custom cap. It's complicated but expect top players to be around 10-12% of cap. Depth players cost around 5-6%)
Hughes - we've already met Quinn
Clarke - his defensive game needs to step up
Sanderson - I expect him to take over PP1 in Ott
Jiricek - will be a Pietrangelo #1D type. lots of points, but relied on heavily everywhere
Edvinsson - see Jiricek
Guhle - like Muzzin, with more upside
Thrun - long leash due to lack of options. looking good in pre-season. Has 50pt upside
Moser - so much around him, Valimaki, Durzi, Soderstrom & soon Simashev - don't believe he's good enough to win out
Faber - can hope he becomes a K'Andre Miller... not expecting more than 40pts. more of defensive Dman

I've already ranked above but am circling back to say that truth be told I think the four top players are all really close and have 70+ pt potential. It's crazy how many great young dmen are in the NHL right now.
