On a side note, Wingstop increased their prices dramatically during the pandemic since the price of wings had gone up so much. Wings now cost less than pre-pandemic levels. Think they dropped their prices? Nope

unfortunately the true cost of inflation is that when prices rise there's really no incentive for them to go back down if people keep forking it over. You're in Chi-town so I'm sure you've seen your fair share of $10+ for the likes of f*cking soup. Restaurant food in general has gotten to the point of just not being worth it that often and I say that as a former food and beverage director.

100% I've listened to a couple podcasts about that very topic with companies using inflation as an excuse to dramatically increase prices and not reduce them as their wholesale prices decrease. In many cases it is more profitable for companies to sell less with higher profit margins. They call it greedflation.

yup it's really unfortunate. Here in NY, not sure about Illinois, it's given restaurants/bars the excuse of adding service fees and credit card surcharges which were ALWAYS paid by the venue(s) to process. Now everything is seemingly being passed on to the consumer but in the age of digital currency nobody so much as bats an eyelash while handing over their card. People probably think I'm a drug dealer because most everything I pay for with cash. Restaurants and bars don't like it when you call out their card fees you want removed from the bill because you're paying cash haha.
