What is Bedard's upside - what is his ceiling? Is it McDavid? Is it Matthews? Is it MacKinnon?

Well whatever you think his ceiling is from the players above, insert that player into the trade and see if you would still make it.

I know their is some risk - but that's the ceiling you are dealing with and helps put the trade into perspective.

When I first read this, I thought you were getting Beniers AND the #2 pick, rather than the OR situation that this is, which makes this a pass.

The league is too shallow to part with the best shot at a superstar without getting much proven talent.

I also wonder how your farm system works. Do you have to drop prospects to add these other guys in? If so, the whole notion of splitting Bedard into a bunch of pieces is just a non-starter.

It can be worth it. Frankly trading any player in most fantasy leagues can be worth it, if you get enough value back.

I don't think this deal is it. If the goalie you were adding was a guy who was a backup with some value, let's say Copley, I'd be more receptive, but you still need better return on this.

Stop entertaining offers and make the pick. The longer you spend considering offers, the more likely you are to accept a bad trade. Stop it.

Just take Bedard and enjoy the production. They can cobble together whatever kind of loot bag full of decent pieces they want, Bedard is still by far the best piece in the deal. You can work on depth in other ways than trading a potential franchise cornerstone player.
