Technically Kyle didnt lie, he didnt 'pop up as a GM' somewhere after leaving Toronto. Although it sounds like he'll be interim GM until he hires someone in the summer.
Even if he was Pittsburgh GM he didn't lie. People seemingly have no critical thinking skills these days. The out of context quote of "“I definitely don’t have it in me to go anywhere else,” Dubas said. “It’ll either be here or it’ll be taking time to recalibrate (and) reflect on the seasons here. But you won’t see me next week pop up elsewhere.” Was in reference to the fact that even then rumors were swirling of him quitting Toronto and taking a different job. Quitting Toronto being the key aspect. He needed to re-evaluate and decide if he was all in on continuing to be a GM. Once he decided he was in fact all in on still being a GM, Toronto fired him. He still already decided he was mentally all in. The statement was clearly made with him thinking the ball was in his court on the Toronto job. When circumstances changed, circumstances changed.

Gotta say that I'm feeling optimistic about the old dogs in Pittsburgh after this hiring. I know the Leafs never got over the hump with Dubas at the helm, but he's found some cheap pieces to surround his stars with. Leafs have been a great regular season squad and very productive for fantasy owners. I won't mind being on Crosby/Malkin/Letang next season.

I've always wondered how efficiently a person could do each job effectively unless there's a business plan that has heightened responsibilities to assistant roles. Like in the Penguins case, will Spezza (AGM), Amanda Kessel and Trevor Daley (Special Assistant to President of Hockey Operations and GM) get responsibilities not accustomed to other people in their roles.

It does seem odd they aren't having more AGMs to help run the NHL, AHL, and ECHL teams.

Dubas is taking on a lot for a guy who said he was thinking about his families mental health the past season with his work load in Toronto.

Some of the AHL/ECHL teams are independently owned and the affiliated club is just responsible for some things. Hershey is probably the #1 example of this, as they are the the 7th oldest hockey franchise in North America.

I feel like there's more positions then work - just there for someone to make money...
I have no clue all the responsibilities that are involved... would love to be a fly on the wall to see how wrong I am.

It clearly puts the spotlight on himself - nobody else to take any blame if an old team (suddenly?) can’t find the Fountain of Youth.

I looked on Wilkes Barre site though and this is the only information on staffing I found:

Nothing on a GM. But there are CEO's and VPs.
