Default Trade away the 5th overall???

5th overall in the upcoming rooke draft or Guhle and Bourgault

Would you rather pick 5th overall in the upcoming rookie draft or receive the 9th overall selection and guhle and x. bourgault?

Guhle and Bourgault without much hesitation. The combo provides a multi-cat beast over two roster spots.

The question is confusing. Is the offer 9th plus Bourgault and Guhle or just Bourgault and Guhle? The first one is a definite accept;the second one is a wait and who's available at 5 before accepting. Chances are there is a potential star available at 5 which is probably better than Guhle + Bourgault.

I don’t think this offer came from the GM that has the 9th overall. I think this is wishful thinking of the owner who has the 5th. I’m guessing the OP has the 5th. Otherwise, this should’ve been accepted a long time ago.

Those are 3 strong assets you'd be getting back... 9th overall could be something great as well if you're lucky. Some high-end Fs could drop there this year. Guhle is already fantasy relevant so that's a big pickup.

No wishful thinking. All i gotta do is hit accept. I kinda like Guhle, but not sure how fantasy relevant he will be and when. I am not that high on bourgault though. 5th overall will most likely end up being Smith. 9th overall maybe Dvorsky or maybe someone like Kulich who is a leftover from last year and i think he'll be worth picking around that spot

I would take that deal so fast especially hearing that players like Kulich are available in the draft. 3 darts are much better than 1 when they are so similar in potential.

i think it really depends what you think about 2 guys that you getting back with the pick...to me, they are both a bench guys for fantasy purpose at best....now to me there are 4 tires in this draft up to about slot 12 and those are 1-2, 3-4, 5-8, 9-12 ....guys develop at different rates and who knows, #9 pick could be better player than #5, we dont have a crystal ball but personally i dont think either of the players you getting is going to be much...

Default Re: Trade away the 5th overall???

If this is for the team in the OP's sig... the 12-team league... then I want the #5 pick.

The SIG shows a 12-team league rostering 12F/6D/2G + 5 Bench (which are currently 2F/1D/2G).
So the total roster count for league is this:

    14F x 12 = 168F
    7D x 12 = 84D
    4G x 12 = 48G

The question is where does Guhle and Bourgault rank within those.
And where does Will Smith (consensus #5) rank vs somebody like Ryan Leonard/Dalibor Dvorsky (#9-ish)?

In an apples-to-apples trade, this is a 3-for-3.
And the OP is likely needing to clear out ONE Minors prospect (for Bourgault) and ONE D soon/eventually for Guhle.

    So...
Side A: Will Smith (5th overall) / Klingberg / Heponiemi or Clang
Side B: Dalibor Dvorsky (9th overall) / Guhle / Bourgault

In a shallow league like this, there's almost not enough upside to the 3rd pieces.
    So...

Side A: Will Smith (5th overall) / Klingberg (the worst D, to be dropped)
    Side B: Dalibor Dvorsky (9th overall) / Guhle (future multi-cat D)

IDK... it's really all about Guhle here.
I know that several prospect rankers really, really like Will Smith.
And I know that Will Smith seems slated at NHL #5 - which is the Montreal Canadiens.

    Tough call here.
The other factor is what does the multi-cat (Hit, Block) WORTH in this league?
It says points... but how many points.

It's close... I still think this shakes out better for a #5 overall player like Will Smith.

[If it was a 24-team league with 12F/6D/2G/5Bench... I like the 9th/Guhle side.]
