    Default Cap crunch trade.

League in signature. Defending champ and facing a bit of a cap crunch. I have Moore, Anderson, Bertuzzi getting raises so I will be over the cap.

My Bertuzzi and Abruzzese for Crouse and a 3rd.

    What do you think?

If Bert signs for around 6 million, I will be saving 2 million and not losing that many fantasy points. Crouse has a good contract. I have lots of minors I can stream and losing Abruzz will hurt, but not much.

I like it, Crouse put up a quiet 45 point season with a nice split of goals, assists and he'll be 26 next season so he's entering peak power forward production years. Bertuzzi is a better player and will more than likely score more but $$$ are everything in your setup and as you mentioned with streamers you can cover the gap.

This cap crunch trade is reasonable. You can probably spin that 3rd into a similar guy to Abruzzese.

Bonus: my valuation on Cap'n Crunch trades:
Crunchberries, Original, Peanut Butter, Oops all berries.

I also like this. While Bert is the better player at the moment I'm not so sure that over the next few years there is a whole lot of difference between him and Crouse. Abruzzese has some nice numbers at Harvard and some decent AHL numbers but whether he ultimately has any fantasy hockey value is far from a given. I agree with stevegamer, that 3rd likely nets you a very similar player. Given the potential CAP savings here I have no problem doing this trade.

This is absolutely the type of trade that you have to make a salary cap league, and the sooner you do it in the off-season, the better off you'll be come the fall. Those who sit around "to see where my guys sign at" are often left without a trade market come September. Good trade!

Thanks everyone. I rep’d you all except for Gamer and Bubba because apparently you were already on my valentine list.

I sent the offer and the counter is already back.

My Bertuzzi, Abruzzese, Sandstrom (25 games of minors eligibility) for Crouse and Regenda.

Not sure what to think of it. Abruzzese and Regenda both have ~70 minors games left. I have so many playing minors that can help me this year.

Skaters: I counted 15 guys that will get games this year and that is being cautious.

Goalies: With one goalie position, I have Saros and then can call up Ingram, Gillies, Annunen, Sogaard.

Sandstrom being added is a wrinkle, but I don’t think it’s a deal breaker.

    Updated advice welcome please.

Not a horrible counter. Unfortunately, this GM and the rest of the league know your situation. Thus, you do not have a lot of leverage. Can you maybe get a bit better prospect than Regenda in return instead?

I don’t love the counter for you. Like the previous poster, the league knows your situation and will try to capitalize. Not a terrible deal for you, but I’d try to do better before accepting.

Yeah, we’ve cut off talks after the counter. He didn’t want to part with Crouse after all. Thank you all I will see who I haven’t repped yet and do it.
