I think I'd do it, partly because soon Willy will cost you a lot more.
I'm a contender in a 32-team cap league (H2H points) and I own Nylander. My Ws are stacked and my D depth isn't that great (Hamilton, Petry, Klingberg and that's really it of value...). I'm also pretty much right up against the cap and, without some savvy trades, I'm going to lose some depth players this year and therefore some valuable games-played.
A rival GM in my conference has said he would agree to a Nylander (6.9mil, 1.2 fantasy points per game) for Byram (RFA, 0.9 fantasy points per game) swap straight up, what do you think?
I see Byram signing a very affordable bridge deal given his limited games so far and this would save me cap and give me the ability to keep some depth players. It would also fill my need at D giving me a core piece for the future while dealing from a position of strength.
My concerns are Byram's injury history, his numbers being inflated by Makar being out for a while last season, and him in general just being stuck behind Marka and to a lesser extent Toews.
Thanks!

I would be asking for another solid piece with Byram. All the questions are on that side of the deal, so it's a big risk to you as it is.

(No I don't have a hockey problem...)
Unless there is a significant sweetener added to this deal there is no way I am moving Nylander for Byram. As Eskimo has said, all the red flags are on the Byram side of the deal. Maybe with a high draft pick or a quality rookie included in the deal I'd be listening, otherwise this is a pass for me.

Agree with others. Risk is on your side, gives you the chance to add more.
If Byrum didn’t have the injury risk that comes along with him, my answer would be different. Because of Byrum’s risks, I would want Nylander out of the two.

yeah you turned it from weak for you to unacceptable for the other side imo...at least for next 2 years or so.

I think I'd probably do the original deal in a cap league, but your counter was way too far in the other direction, which is an issue if it's a consistent sort of thing.
