Myself, I wouldn't but I dont value Slafkovsky as much as others. I dont see what others see, at least not yet.

I agree with Axe. I don’t value Slaf as high. I stick with Mercer.

I'm not high on Slafkovsky and he is years away from being what Mercer is now. I'd need a good sweetener or it's an easy pass.

I think Mercer and Slaf have very similar upside. That's a different reality than what the pre and post draft hype would lead you to believe about Slaf. Slaf basically lost a year of development this year and his road to establishing an NHL career is going to be a long one, 3 years from now sounds about right. Mercer delivered a fantastic rookie campaign and followed it up with an even better sophmore year this year. He is the here and now and will contribute to your team. Slaf, well, it will be a wait, and until we've actually seen some real progression, his potential remains well, simply potential. Keep Mercer!

Montreal didn't need to play Slafkovsky this past season other than feeling the pressure to play him because he's was the 1st overall. Montreal knew their team wasn't a competitive team. Why rush the kid. He wasn't NHL ready and you could see that. Wasted a year of his contract and probably stunted his development process.

I have next to no faith in the Habs ability to develop young players. That's why I'm not touching Hutson.

I’m in the minority here but I take Slafkovsky. He’s just style wise the perfect fit on Caufield and Suzukis line. I think he will get spoon fed minutes there ( probably undeserved) and you all will look back and regret Saying this. Maybe he’s a bust tho and Mercers
    Already there.

I see Mercer as Verhaeghe 2.0; so if you agree, reframe the question with that in mind.
