Yaniv Perets/ Pyotr kochetkov

Hello all, the Hurricanes just sign Perets wich dominate in the NCAA. what do you guy's think about that? On my side i have just made a trade to get Kochetkov and i am now worry that i might have made a bad move. I was expecting Kochetkov to be the next goalie in Carolina but now i am not sure anymore, Perets stats are pretty good and kochetkov is having a hard time right now. I need your advise on this one.

Kochetkov has a contract in hand to play for the Hurricanes for the next 4 years. Perets does not have that.

You can take a look to see how many FHL difference makers are on that list. Tim Thomas is the only one, and these past three weeks of Alex Lyon is in 2nd place. Being the NCAA's best goalie doesn't correlate to NHL success. There are so many things that need to happen for the undrafted Perets to mean anything, and those things will take several years to coalesce, if they ever do. After I finish typing this post, I'm not going to think about Perets for a long time. You can do the same.

I wouldn't be worried at all. One has proven they can win in the NHL. One has proven nothing at the NHL level, and might never. I wouldn't second guess that decision at all.

If anything both of them end up forming the Canes' tandem in a couple years. But the opportunity favors Kochetkov for the foreseeable future.

Kochetkov is the guy who has a professional contract and has had success at the NHL level.

I think that there's far more reason to worry about the Canes bringing Andersen back than Perets.

Any word where CAR will have Perets play this next year with no AHL affiliate?
