Drop Murray for Levi in franchise keeper league?

Would you drop Matt Murray (Leafs) for Levi? Currently have Binnington, Murray and Gibson as my goalies. Not a great combination.

If you’re willing to wait another 3 or 4 years for Levi to be fantasy relevant then yes.

I would. Murray's numbers don't exactly jump out at ya and there is always the risk of losing him long term with injury. Seems to be a lot of steam behind Levi right now. Bit of a gamble but low risk/high reward imo.

I’d recommend reading this. Unless you have a minors system in this league or want to carry a goalie who will not help your team for at least 3 years don’t pick him up. The idea that he’s somehow going to be fantasy relevant at 21 years old is wrong.

In the next 1-2 seasons, no I don’t think Levi will be the better option. 3+ years from now, he COULD be.

Honestly, I'd grab him, and hope to flip him in the offseason for somebody more guaranteed to help.

I watched the Sabres game last night mainly because Levi started. I won't lie, even though he's listed as being 6.0', he looks small in the net. I wasn't expecting that. He reminded me of Jack Campbell as far as his stature in the net. Now that being said, much like Saros (who's also a small goalie), that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be unsuccessful in his career.

As far as his first NHL start went, he played well. He did everything you want a smaller goalie to do, which is cut down the angles, control rebounds and be active.

As a Levi owner I am certainly optimistic about his future, so far so good, awesome numbers in the AHL and a very successful NHL debut. Am I counting on him for next year? Absolutely not. Would I drop Murray for him, absolutely not. UPL and Levi are the future in net for the Sabres and I believe UPL is pretty much there, but Levi is optimistically a year away and more than likely 2 to 3 years away provided he continues to progress.

There been others that have been successful at young age in NHL net but not many...i would not count on it but goalies are so voodoo that i would not count it out either....odds are not good tho for him to be relevant in next few years.

if tis a trade you looking at i would probably move Murray just cause he is not good...if you are looking at pick up...trade moving Murray out first ...see if you can get a pick then pick up Levi

Levi looked very good last night except for his rebound control. In the league I own Levi in, I wouldn't trade him for Murray but that is because I have Shesty, Andersen, and Demko so in theory I should be good with those 3. The smart move would be to trade Levi for Murray but I'm taking a swing that Levi could be Saros. Murray is not a gamechanger while Levi has a chance to be special. So to answer your question, it really depends on the rest of your team, your contention window, and roster constraints with rookies.

I think Matt Murray is done. Lots of injuries and he’s just not good.

I would drop Murray and pick up Levi in a heartbeat. Murray is a back up goalie and those typically are easily replaceable.
