Default Hypothetical - What's the Ask for Bedard?

In 2 of my leagues I am in the running for Berard with a lottery pick. So obviously, my team's are in need of a significant boost.

IF I was lucky enough to land the top pick, what kind of return might I get for Berard if I choose to move him?

As a starting point, I was thinking of:
    - 2 established young NHL'rs
    - 2 promising prospects, both close to making the NHL; and
    - switch of picks in the 2023 draft if not a lottery team making the trade

Something like (to throw random names out there for reference):
    Berard for Terry (F), K Miller (D), Knies (F), Edvinsson (D) & a switch of 2023 picks.

Is that expectation reasonable or too high/too low? If not, what is a reasonable expected return?

Bedard for a player that gets drafted top 12 in a new league is the price tag probably.

If I had Matthews, Marner, Pasta, Kuch, Kap, any of those guys I'd be heavily debating on moving them for Bedard if my roster make up wasn't much outside my 1 player.

If my acquisition cost to get Bedard was a middling forward (Terry), a D that won't get the opportunity to thrive (K.Miller), a project (Knies), and another middling forward (edvinsson) I'd be ecstatic to get Bedard.

I wouldn't expect much of a return for a player who retired in 2009 Bryan Berard we miss ye...

But if we are talking about Connor Bedard here, I think you could get a lot more talent back than that on hype alone. You should be able to get very good established NHL talent back plus prospects/picks. If you have a youth oriented GM or two in your league, you can definitely find someone willing to give up established stars for the next shiny new toy
    Without me, it's only "aweso".

Best one eyed hockey player I know...
    Well worth the hype!

I've been on the Bedard hype train for several years now. I would need an obvious overpayment to move him as there would be personal joy in watching his career playout on my team - and that has value.

You're not even in the ballpark.

Bedard's potential is somewhere in between McJesus and Crosby. I'd be asking for a top 3 player in a keeper in exchange for Bedard IMO

The only player I wouldn't trade for him straight up is McJesus, anyone else is fair game

If I would have Bedard in a keeper, I would traded him only for McDavid….Bedard is special, vey special….

Your hypothetical is asking far too low. Someone will give much more (or you can keep him and reap the benefits). The hype is off the charts!

If you're in a rebuild, there's next to no way you should trade Bedard. Any player you get back except for McDavid could age out by the time your rebuild is done. You're not going to get the best player in the deal if you're trading away Bedard. If you get an offer then post it here for feedback but it's unlikely to be worth it.

How high to prospects usually go in your league's draft? Maybe you could get a big haul for Bedard and then still get Fantilli a while lower?

I also thought it might be Brett Berard, but figured it was a typo.

It's going to depend somewhat on format what's acceptable. In a multi-cat, Miller is the core piece in that offer, but he's not good enough. In points only, there is no core piece.

Additionally, it depends on how far back the team with #1 overall is moving back in the draft, and how many keepers, etc.

It really depends if this is a limited keeper or close to a full dynasty, and the shape your team is in.

There's absolutely a scenario where getting something like Svechnikov, L. Hughes, Byfield, and another decent young piece (maybe like Guenther/Stankoven/Kaliyev) is more valuable to a team than just Bedard in a dynasty. Limited keeper, yea would be tougher to find a package that makes sense.

    Way too low.
I have been able to watch Bedard a couple times these last 2 WHL season. In person at the Blades game on Sunday and seen his 70th goal of the season.
Not only is his shot NHL calibre; more like elite NHL calibre.
Crosby is the only NHLer I've ever seen who can rip backhand shots hard & accurate from high slot, in close etc; Bedard will be the 2nd.

Great feedback - some excellent points. I know my hypothetical was too low - I used it to get the conversation going.

TBH, if I win the lottery, it has to be a phenominal offer for me to even consider moving him. Both teams are going into a rebuild and I can't think of a better player to build around.
