C. Makar+ for T. Thompson?

I am a rising team (firmly in contention) with great young forwards (A. Svechnikov, M. Necas, J. Hughes, & T. Zegras) to support my producing forwards but my defense is weaker compared to that of other GMs in my league. So, I am open to trading T. Thompson to help my D because I question whether Thompson is a 50-50-100 guy most think he is (I think he's more of a reliable 35-50-85 guy.) and because there just has not been a 6'6" center that has been this good outside of the Lemieux's of the world. I'm thinking Nik Antropov and Martin Hanzal as recent comparables, though Thompson's hands are in a different stratosphere compared to those players. I know 80 G across two seasons is significant, but W. Karlsson had 67 in 2 as well. Stretch comparison, I know, but it is not nothing.

So, I am thinking of approaching some GMs with the following in exchange to capitalize on the luster of Thompson:

• C. Makar (& M. Sergachev, if I include smaller pieces to offset the balance)
• N. Dobson, K. Miller, & L. Raymond
• M. Seider, M. McTavish, & O. Zellweger
• E. Bouchard, S. Edvinsson, & L. Hughes

First thing is that you need to add to Thompson to get Makar, not the other way around. If someone is willing to deal you Makar straight up, you do that trade yesterday.

As to the others, they have their benefits if you're looking to rebuild, but if you're not looking to rebuild, then I probably wouldn't do any of them for you except maybe the Seider trade. Seider is the only asset that approaches what Thompson is delivering and he's doing it now so he can be helpful as you contend. If I had Thompson, I would not trade him for package #4.

I agree with senryu on Makar. Thompson + to get Makar is what is likely needed.

I would do deal 2 for Dobson & Miller if it's more of a dynasty where you keep everyone than a shallow keeper.

I need more info on keeper & roster setup.

There’s no way on earth anyone adds to Makar to get Thompson. Straight up if you’re super lucky. The other options I’m not sure I’d bother.

I don’t think any of the offers you are thinking of proposing are close, especially the Makar+ one. If you can do it, kudos to you. But I think these get shut down fairly quickly.

lol dam, and here I thought people would overvalue a perceived 50-50-100. We are thinking of adding SOG to our categories, so maybe that would swing it too, but I see Makar as a D has 200+ SOG as a D and converts on 10% on his shots.

We keep about 80% of our skaters year over year in our dynasty and have been going at it for about 5 years. Main team has 3 goalie slots and minors has 2 goalie slots. We only have F or D categories and do not break it out by wings or C.

I also like the Seider package a lot. More realistic shot and you'd most likely be buying low on both Seider and McTavish who both have pretty big upside.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say so putting an offer on the table never hurts. However, I'm in full agreement with all the folks that have posted here so far, your chances of landing Makar straight up are slim, but you never know. I also like the Seider package and that is more likely to happen than having your offer for Makar accepted.

To add to the chorus, but from maybe a slightly different angle...

It's going to be tough to pry Makar away from his current owner, and Tage alone won't do it.

I think that's likely true in all leagues, but I'd think even more so in yours given that it's a 6 teamer and uses only an F designation as opposed to a C, W, etc. and has TOI as one of relatively few scoring categories. Not knowing precisely how deep the overall and starting rosters are, in leagues with fewer teams it becomes all the more important to have bonafide superstars. Markar is one -- and at a premium position to boot given the lack of positional requirements among forwards and categories. Thompson isn't.

I'd be willing to add a healthy amount to Thompson in this scenario to get Makar.
