Gus is also 600k cheaper than Sandin and a UFA next year vs. Sandin 1.4m
McCabe at 2m next 2 years and signing Timmins has perhaps made Sandin a bit expendable.
Has been some concerns he's not going to develop as far as they had hoped. 2nd pair ceiling vs. top pairing as appeared.
(too early to tell) but he gets lots of opp. in Wsh.

Still way too much to pay for Washington imo...just cause he is ahead of someone that be drafted late in first round does not mean he will be better....i guess Washington is not ready for full rebuild until Ovi gets the record but still, i love this move for the leafs...

Maybe the Leafs think Sandin is close to his ceiling. defensemen take a long time to develop, or maybe he just needs a change of scene.
