Wow... a 2nd and a 4th round pick for Kane @25% of salary...
I think that is great value for the Rangers.
McCabe and Lafferty got way more than P.Kane+Toews. Who would have guessed that in September.

I wouldn't be all that certain Panarin and Kane will play together. Panarin and Tank are also best buds.
Given the low acquistion cost, Kane undoubtedly makes them better. But chalking his performance this year to being disinterested is wishcasting. Same argument was made for OEL and any number of players and it rarely is actually true. Kane maybe can be a difference maker, if his issue was motivation, if he can get healthy, if he can find chemistry with either players he's never played with or players he hasn't played with for almost a decade.
The statement of taking NYR adds over TOR, BOS, and NJD is hilarious though.
BOS: Orlov, Hathaway
NJD: Meier
TOR: O'Reilly, Acciari, Lafferty, McCabe
NYR: Tarasanko, Kane
Meier is what Tank and Kane were 5 years ago. Orlov took all of 1 game to work his way to Boston's top pair and be dominant. Individually each of these two will impact games more than Tank and Kane can combined. Toronto's adds have far more two way impact.

"Cleavage is like the sun. You can look, but dont stare.. Unless you're wearing sunglasses."
i said it before in another post...i think this gives NY too many cooks...will piss to many guys off that think they deserve offensive deployment over someone else....
cost wise for whats coming back its probably best deal so far ...however i think there be issues in NY and im predicting first round exit....
most of the teams that got better with trades added in areas of need...NY just added offense offensively stacked team...makes no sense...

Don't write the West off in the Cup finals.
Whoever emerges from the East will be a shell of a team.

Typical Rangers move of acquiring shiny toys that don't actually address their team weaknesses.
NYR is where aging stars go to die. Nothing new here. Lucky for them Kane is still a stud (unlike Tarasenko) but this deal is as much for the media and fans as it is for the hockey team.
It kind of beggars belief that the Rangers spent 3 straight lottery picks on wingers and yet went out to get two of the three biggest wingers on the trade market, but it's hard to argue with the prices they paid.
Kane is going to tear it up. I am excited to see it. Will be interesting to revisit this thread when he's pacing for over 100 points for the rest of the season.

Kane has 7pts in his 10gp as a Ranger with 27sog, avg 18:01TOI. In his last 5 games, he's 1G, 3A, 4Pts, 12SOG, 16:00TOI.
I kinda expected a 70-75pt/82gp pace. It's hard to go to a new team midseason and light it up instantly. Especially in a situation like Kane who hasn't been on another team.
