Default Tavares for Rielly + Picks - Help!

    Hi All,

I've received an offer in my keeper league I'm stuck on. We keep 10 players each year. My team is getting as bit older, and struggled this year thanks to the likes of Huberdeau, Gaudreau, Barkov, Vasi, Markstrom, etc. Team is in the signature. JT has been great this year and Rielly struggling, but trying to sell high while he still has solid value. Am I getting enough back? Will Rielly turn it around?

The league is category-specific with goals, assists, points, PPP, SHP, SOG, hits and blocks for skaters.

    I've received the following offer:

    I receive:
    Morgan Rielly
    1st round pick (11th round)
    2nd round pick (12th round)

    I trade:
    John Tavares
    4th round (14th round)
    6th round (16th round)

For draft context, here's the talent that was available in last year's draft in the opening 2 rounds:

Stutzle, Dahlin, Zegras, Norris, Pietrangelo, Burns, Georgiev, Doughty, Rust, Giroux, Hertl, Power, etc

    Thoughts?

I'd make that deal. I value Reilly higher at D than Tavares at C, and it addresses a team need, and gives pick upgrades.

I would absolutely do this deal. Same reasons as Stevegamer.

I don't love it because IMO JT has several good seasons left in him and he hits but your defense is too weak to win it all so your hand is forced to make the deal.

May I ask why the vote is so unanimous? Rielly is really struggling this year.

Bump. Following up, just curious why the belief in Rielly is so high.

I don't think it's a slam dunk, but it fills a need. Losing JT forces you to play Trocheck, but that's a better option than Gudas at D. I'd do it, but follow it up trying to deal a W for a C. Keller should have enough value to get a Larkin-level C. It also matters where you currently rank. If you're not a contender, then getting two good picks (I assume you mean 1st round, 11th overall) will help fill some holes. - that's what she said-
    H2H CONTRACT
    C - Larkin 1, MacKinnon 1, Hischier 2
    W- Pastranak 1, Kreider1, Benn 1, Schmaltz 1,Teravinen 2, Skinner1, T. Moore [color=red]2[/color
    D - Toews 2, DeAngelo 3, Faulk 2, Morrissey 1Spence 4, Marino 1, Mike Reilly 1
    G- Hill 1Jarry 3Vanecek 4
MINORS- Slafkovsky, Wallstedt, Gauthier, O. Moore

I have Gudas specifically for hits, he's one of the league leaders. Ultimately none of Trocheck, Keller or Larkin would be keepers going into next year. Despite having a top 3 team on paper, I'm dead last. So I'm retooling for next year. I'll be getting Bedard in the draft.

It's because Reilly is higher ranked for me at D than Tavares is at C. Also, if you're aiming for next year, the pick upgrades will help you.
