Congrats to beauvillier for getting a future crazy overpayment by the Canucks organization in 2025.

Also...they just acquired another $4m winger...

Extension for Horvat? Otherwise, that's a pretty bad deal for NYI.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

    I would caution everyone.
Horvat could be on the move again, if they can't get a contract for him and or if the Isles don't improve in next 10-15 games before deadline.
Horvat could still be moved a 2nd time....

Honest question from a non Canucks follower. Did the development of Linus Karlsson make this trade easier for the Canucks or is there no correlation?

It's a pretty good trade for Van. in my opinion. If Horvat signs long term with the Iles, it's a closer deal. Beauvillier isn't a dog and he's only 25. If they resign him for stupid money then you can cringe. Raty is an excellent prospect, and assuming Van doesn't screw up the first, this is a bit of a no brainer deal. Van. wasn't going to get a top five first rounder. They may potentially flip Beauvillier if he's not in their long term plans. It was a first step in many that Van. needs to take. Trade Miller now if you can. Pay someone to take Meyers and or Ekman-Larson. Easier said than done. Personally their isn't anything worse than finishing in the middle of the pack and getting a middle rd. first. See Calgary if you want that. Frankly, I don't care what the Iles do with Horvat. At least Van. is doing something and getting assets in return. Tank for Bedard.

Playing devil's advocate here but it's possible the Canucks knew Horvat was going to ask for the moon or that he's set on going to a specific team as a free agent and they figured allowing him to speak with other teams would cause more harm than good.

this could be worst imo...i dont understand whey they would not let teams negotiate but im assuming its more than stubborn GM..but taking in consideration that he is a rental as is....i find it hard to believe they could have gotten more

i also really like Raty, we will see if he develops into something solid..

    i don't get some comments.

This is an insane deal for Vancouver.

Keeping Horvat has been public -- it won't happen.
Anyway, signing him long-term after a season way above his usual stats makes no sense.

Getting a B-grade prospect in Raty, an established NHLer who can play middle-six for a guy on an expiring contract seems like good value.
Now throw in a pick that will likely be 12th to 16th (No, the Islanders won't catch CAR, NJ or NYR and will fight PIT, WAS and BUF for the last two spots), it's just icing on a cake.

Lou is still playing this game as if we were in 2001. Renting players for picks!

(No, he's not trading him back in two weeks)

Seems a tad light to me for Vancouver ... but what the hell do I know. Need to see how things shake out in the weeks/years ahead to really judge.

Interested now to see what Horvat can do with the Islanders. Always fun to see players in a new environment to see if/how it changes what we're used to seeing.

Agree 100%. Going to miss Bo here in BC. Like the 1st round pick. Like Raty. Will have to see how Beauvillier fits. Would like to see Raty pan out.

No this was purely about Horvat's contract and management choosing Miller over Horvat for the voice in the room.

This is the deal they should have made for Miller at the draft. Horvat takes the bullet for JT again. Good luck to you on your new team Bo!
