    Default Trade Advice

I'm currently in a tight battle for first place (I'm probably going to slide to 2nd after today). The 9th place team is interested in trading for my Thompson from my team in my signature. He has Hill and wants to complete the handcuff. I need an upgrade at centre. I want to trade a LW keeper as I have too many of them. I'm also looking at sending two players his way and picking up Luukkonen who is an FA. Which of his centres should I target and which LW do I need to add to Thompson to get the deal done?

    This is his roster.

C - Tavares, Suzuki, Zibanejad, Kadri
LW - Marchand, Connor, Ehlers (RW)
RW - Hyman (LW), Perron, Caufield (LW)
D - Seider, Provorov, Lindell, Pietrangelo
    G - Hill, Skinner, Murray

    Thanks for your help.

Thompson/Debrincat for Zibanejad. It's somewhat of an overpay IMO so if you guys deal draft picks I would be asking for a decent pick back with Mika.

We do trade draft picks, rounds 6 to 17 as we keep 5 players.

a pick in the 6-10 range would need to come back as well for you to give up two very solid owns.

Sound advice from LuigiC173. Replacing DeBrincat with Zibanejad is a good idea. Zibs is a solid player and a nice keeper.
I’d be asking for his 6th round pick for a late round of yours. Even though he is giving up Zibs he gets to replace Caufield who is out for the season, plus he gets Thompson not only completing the handcuff but the #1 goalie in Vegas.

Well, the Zibanejad owner declined the offer, but we're in negotiations. He's hung up on him giving up a great player for two almost great players.

Well, the Zibanejad owner doesn't want to trade him. He also just dropped Caufield and picked up Nichushkin. So now he countered with Suzuki or Kadri and his 7th pick for Thompson and my 11th pick.

I’d pass. Thompson is worth a lot more than either of those players. And the pick upgrade does not make up the difference.

Even though the 7th pick is actually our 2nd?

Yes, even though it’s a 2nd, I’d still pass. You’re giving up a high performing goalie for a mediocre center and future pick upgrade. You’re in a win now mode and neither Suzuki or Kadri move the needle meaningfully for you this year. And while a pick upgrade is nice, it also doesn’t help you this year.

If you’re going to trade a starting goalie, make sure you’re getting back someone in the Zibanejad tier of centers. I know the other GM won’t move Zibs. So maybe look at another team that could use a goalie. Also, the if the other GM wants Thompson so badly to have the handcuff with Hill, then tell him he’s got to give to get.

Late to the party this morning. I’m surprised OGM didn’t take the offer. He was getting everything he asked for. His current request is one you want to move on from. Thompson as the #1 in Vegas is worth much more than what is being offered. Even if the draft pick is enticing, Kadri and Suzuki aren’t worth the move in my opinion. Best to hold the cards you have.
