My quandary there is, Ikept him last year. So I will have to give up a 1st to keep him again and I already planned on doing that with Thompson.

Makar is the only sure thing here. He's worth 2 firsts and more. No hesitation to keep the #1 offensive Dman in the NHL.

Makar, Shesterkin, and Tavares are a great trio of keepers.

BTW, I don't quite understand the rules behind not being able to keep Makar AND Thompson.

If you can't keep Makar and Thompson, I'd be exploring moving Thompson, not Makar.

Yeah i figured it was a no go on this trade but thought it wise to see how hard of a no it is. Pretty obvious I shouldn't even consider.

In our league if you keep someone more than 1 year in a row, you have to use a 1st or 2nd round pick to do so, last year I kept Shesterkin, Makar and Tavares. So I'd need to give up a 1st to keep Makar. Which I might do. I'm not as huge on the idea as everyone else which I'm probably dumb for but I can make up that production through forwards and stick to defenseman who get me more hits, blocks, and +/-.

I think Thompson will be an Allstar for the foreseeable future and with the dual position eligibility, seems idiotic to trade him away. I do know the Dahlin owner would love to get his hands on Thompson but won't want to pay the price.

In 2023-24 if you keep the same players:

1st round pick - Forfeited for keeping Makar
2nd round pick - Forfeited for keeping Shesterkin

You can't keep the same 3 players from the previous yr. Or is it:
1st round pick - Forfeited
2nd round pick - Makar
3rd round pick - Shesterkin
4th round pick - 1st pick for you to draft a player.

This is correct. And is my current plan unless I can nab several lower draft picks or a better keeper (someone who would provide equalish value and NOT take my 1st or 2nd draft picks). Definitely would only trade for something juicy. Vanecek is appealing to me only because he can be kept as a last draft pick.

Now the owner is asking for Nuge/5th for Vanecek/8th.

Still a no go in my mind.

if price to pay to keep Makar is 1st rounder once im keeping Makar....if price increases year to year i may try to trade Makar for another sure Keeper ...but this is underwhelming return...Ovi is still good but how much longer?

Makar is a special player and gives you a big advantage on D in all points categories, I would be keeping him for as long as I could unless a trade came along that couldn't be refused.
