I have thompson was offered robertson. Thoughts? Which one will keep up long term?

Thompson lost his dual position and is now a C. Robertson is only LW.

Tage gets FOW, but at a below-average rate for a C (~5.3 per game). I'm assuming you differentiate positions. If so, Tage's FOW hurt more than help due to opportunity cost. If you own Tage, and unless you're punting fow on a weekly basis, you need to own guys who get FOWs from the wing (Drai, Giroux, etc) or high end FOW guys like Bergeron, Horvat, Kopitar, etc in order to compete in that category. That's particularly the case if rosters aren't deep.

I'd probably accept for that reason.

I'd sell high on Tage. At worst this is likely a wash. Robertson has a bit more of a track record, and it's very impressive. I am certainly not convinced that Tage Thompson has quickly evolved into an elite scoring forward with numbers that no one I'm aware of predicted. Case in point, Dobber has Tage's upside at 77 his 3YP at 68, Robertsons upside is 95 and his 3YP is 82. Saying that's quite a difference is a bit of an understatement. Maybe we are all wrong here, it does happen, but I think Thompson's numbers come back down to earth.

I agree to take the deal - wingers are scarcer, and while one can expect FOW wins to increase over time, sometimes even elite C prospects don't become the #1 faceoff guy for their teams, see McDavid as an extreme example. Not saying Mcdavid is bad, but he's not the main FO guy.

    Take the Deal.
Robertson has a higher upside, more of a track record, scarcer position.
Tage is having a good season, and had a god level game. This is the definition of sell high.

I'd take Eichel in trade. I'd prefer Robertson, but Eichel is only 1 year older than Thompson with more of a track record of production. Also more of a track record of injury, but he's got the big name.

I think Tage Thompson is light years better than Ri erosion at this point. I'm a leafs fan but even I don't have Nicky in that stratosphere...

Has anyone on this thread really watched Thompson play? Lots of platitudes above. He's a special player and will be so for the rest of his career. I could easily see 100 points in a season... especially in Buffalo. Yes Buffalo. Having said this both are equal talents trading between the two is silly. Go look for something else

    I think it's Jason Robertson.

I'll say here what I said in another Thompson thread. Name me another elite center who was 6'6'' tall or taller........Take your time....

Drawing a blank? Don't think you're missing anyone, because no one fits the bill. Oh, and the two best - Nik Antropov and Martin Hanzal - both had injury issues, which I fear can befall a player that big.

I believe a lot in past results being representative of what to expect. Are they absolute? No, but it's more than enough to tilt the scales for me to JRob.
