I can't remember where I read it but I remember someone mentioning that he's off to a slower than expected start to the year. I can't say with any certainty that that's the reason for the snub but it might be a reason.

The cuts will be interesting and will draw criticism no matter who they keep and cut. The guys expected to kill penalties will make the team over some offensive players and that will tick people off without looking at the big picture.

Canada's final roster. The only question mark is the goalies.

Between Gaudreau and Milic, their goaltending is good enough to still win it. Their defence is awesome between Clarke, Zellweger, Korchinski, Allan and Del Mastro, and their offense might an all time great group.
I've noticed a fairly general rule that whenever Canada has a generational talent on their team, they always win.
Canada's only real competition this year would have been the Russians, and they're banned from the tourney. The US and Sweden have very weak groups this year, the Slovak's top player is in the NHL. Finland is probably the runner up, and last year's 3rd place team, Czechia, actually look really good on paper. Could see them making a surprise run to the finals with so many of the usual powerhouses having down years.

    GET WELL SOON, DOBBER.

Canada has someone who was basically just traded for Alex Debrincat as their third pairing D. That's scary.
From what I'm hearing, Milic is gonna really surprise people. Gaudreau is there just based on experience with Team Canada, but hasn't really justified his spot with his play, but Milic has been playing really well.
The Americans are actually a lot better than I thought. I'd put them as the frontrunner for second best team in the tourney. Their goaltending is a much bigger question mark than Canada's, but there are no blue chippers in net this year so everyone's goaltending is a question mark. Their offense is great, they've got a very good group of D led by Luke Hughes who I could see taking over the tourament.
Don't sleep on the Czechs. Kulich, Sale, Jiricek, Svozil, Hamara - not a bad group there. Really strong on D.

    GET WELL SOON, DOBBER.

Anyone know if they even looked at other goalies? I'm not as qualified to make the choice, but it would seem to me there are a dozen or more kids performing better than Milic, and Gaudreau isn't even in the same realm this year. I'll live with whomever earns it, but they seem like odd choices (even Gaudreau with his experience).
