Default Goalie Struggles and Dilemma - Will REP

14 team league. League info and roster in signature.

Goalie stats are W, GAA, SV%, and SO's.

Drafted Demko and Campbell so needless to say I have been in trouble. Was lucky enough to grab Vanecek off waivers and picked up Vejmelka today as I think this through. Im in first in my league but goalie stats are sitting at an embarrassing 5-17-6 this season and down in all 4 categories this week.

How would you rank those 4 ROS? And would you rather ride the wave of Demko and Cambell in hopes they turn their season around or drop one or both? No one is interested in either, which even with the struggles seems odd in a 14 team league. Vancouver has not looked good which makes it hard to stomach two goalies struggling, at least the Oilers are winning games.

There are some solid options available on the waiver including guys like Schmaltz but wondering if one or two of those goalie spots would be better used towards skaters and trying to dominate those stats for the ROS?

    Any and all advice/opinions appreciated!

Feels like he already has lost the job to Skinner. Just so tough right now to see Demko splitting starts and the team struggling. He's such a good goalie but the way things have been going it's tempting to drop him. Thought I was in a good spot after the draft haha. Would be pretty funny to run the rest of season with Vanecek/Vejmelka and stream a goalie when needed.

Vanecek - Best waiver move you made, most likely.
Demko - Talented, the main guy there, and Vancouver should improve
Campbell - Currently splitting time, but still I like him better than Vejmelka
Vejmelka - Arizona is a problem for wins & GAA.

Vanecek has been a huge surprise for the New Jersey Devils. Many thought before the season started that Blackwood would be the starting Goalie and that the Goalie situation in New Jersey would be the downfall for the team. It is certainly not and Vanecek is the reason it is a huge strength.

Demko is a solid starter for a team that struggled out of the gate in Vancouver. This team is starting to pick it up and that is a great sign for Demko.

Vejmelka is on a horrible team, but has not put up terrible stats. He has even thrown in a shutout as well. If he was on any other team he would be recognized a lot more.

Campbell is better than what his stats are showing and he will pick it up. Edmonton is a very good team. I also think Skinner will come back to earth a bit. Campbell will start to get more of the share again, but it will still be a share which is why I rank him last.

I agree, I guess I am just lucky enough to still be competitive while enduring these goalie struggles. If I were near the bottom I would be able to chance the wait much longer.

Steve thanks and will REP when I can! I agree with the fact situationally Vejmelka is in a tough place but so far his stats are better than anyone on the waiver or Campbell/Demko surprisingly sitting at 6 wins, 2 shutouts, 2.97GAA, and .916 SV%. I might hold him for this week and see if I can stir up a trade of some sort but definitely can't afford to have 2 of my 4 bench spots going to golaies when they only count for 4 stats.

I actually think I'll start Vej tonight versus LA over starting Demko vS FLA or Campbell vs MIN. Decisions decisions lol.

I'd hold on Demko, for the reasons already stated.

I agree that Vejmelka's been good. He's good for saves & SV%, I think he's the goalie of the now & future there. Can't really ask for much more out of a guy than to steal games on that awful team.

Really regret starting Soupy haha. In a 14 team league doesn't feel right letting go of either he or Demko, especially how EDM can turn it on but wow that D isn't helping his cause.

Just to let you know Demko left the game with what looks like a knee injury or at least some sort of leg injury. He needed to be assisted off the ice. I also have Demko on my team along with Elvis and Kuemper and I am hoping to get Schmid off of Waivers tomorrow. I guess I have to hope for Elvis to get some magic back again along with Kuemper and Schmid to continue to do what he is doing on a limited basis and make it work. There is absolutely nothing else available other than Schmid on Waivers in my league.

Yes I saw that, never like to see an injury. But IR would be preferred over having to drop him right away. Our league has no one on waivers either. Thats what makes it so hard with struggling goalies in larger leagues or ones that hoard goalies, this coming from the guy with 4 goalies currently lol.

I feel ya. I am also carrying 4 goalies and one is Elvis who just got back and I am hoping he is going to play totally differently now. Kuemper is okay and then I have Demko and Nedeljkovic who I hope to drop if I get Schmid off of Waivers. I will then place Demko on the IR and figure out what I am going to do with that later since there are no goalies left.

Elvis is available in my league I just noticed so it's another option if I want to look that way but yes he did not start the season well. Columbus probably has more chances of turning it around over ARZ but I need to drop a goalie or two, only need 3 starts a week and better off bolstering the skating core but which ones to ride is the question and need an update on Demko's injury sooner rather than later to help make my decision.

Was also offered a trade this morning for Demko (depending on the injury update) but don't see it as an upgrade so not sure I like it but my Demko, Zibby, and Kempe for Zegras or Dubois, Hall or Chabot, and Knight. Feels more like a him selling high on Knight/Dubois and trying to buy Demko low and take Zibby in the process.

    I agree with this.

You can't really sell Demko now. You have to hope that it gets turned around. If you're going to deal Zibanejad for goalie help do that and get a goalie who is worthy of him, which Knight is not.
