Yeah woah… was holding him for too long should have traded him but was hoping he would take over!

Hoping some team takes a chance on him.

Wow, 10 games into a $15M contract. He definitely has not looked good. I wonder if they actually send him down to the AHL or if this is more of a kick in the pants move.

It's prolly a way to get him back on track in the NHL quickly. I doubt he's claimed (I bet there's only lik5 teams that can take that deal on). And I doubt they leave him in the AHL all season.

Big move, but I do think it's the right move.

Let's say Cal gets claimed or demoted...what do we think the plan is? Who would the Kings bring in to support Quick? Seems risky to lose Cal and have to play a guy like Pheonix Copley a whole bunch. Unless they plan on getting a look at one of the other guys like Matt Villalta. Or have a trade in the hopper.

That's why I'm not sure if they'll actually demote him. Copley isn't going to do much better. Villalta I'm not so sure about.

That contract isn't getting claimed though

Copley is certainly not the answer. If the Kings do demote Petersen then it makes way more sense to give one of these young guys like Matt Villalta a chance to back up Quick.

I don't think he gets claimed, or gets sent down either, but we'll see.

I think Axe is right in that's the most likely course here.

But of the 4 teams with the cap space to claim/trade once cleared... I actually think 3 of the 4 are possible.

CHI - Stalock with a set back, claim Cal as the bridge during the rebuild (Mrazek goes once contract expires) and let Soderblom keep developing in the A.
    ANA - Don't see it
BUF - If they didn't like what they saw from Comrie... why not take a stab considering Andy is likely done after this year anyways. Different regime in place from the one Cal spurned post-draft... though don't know if that rep stays with guys or not
ARZ - Have the space and if they feel it's an upgrade with some cost certainty over Ingram I could see it.

Have to imagine LA wants an NHL-level guy behind Quick too... so maybe deal for Ned (Det) with Cal going the other way?

Realistically there's no claim and Cal stays... but wow... what an interesting move by LA. Feels OVERLY reactionary unless there's something else behind the scenes at play here.

i think teams like Chicago , MTL or even Buffalo be smart to claim him..Ottawa be another one. Maybe change of scenery would help him..he played well in the league in the past

I agree that chicago brass are watching some Peterson footage to explore this option . Play him often and hope he regains form by deadline and move him for a pkg .
