Stuetzle + 3rd round pick VS Connor + 1st round pick

I'm not in contention this year and probably won't be for the next 2 years. We use a lottery system for the first round so grabbing his 1st round pick would increase my odds by around 20% to draft first overall (Bedard).

Would you trade away Stuetzle + 3rd round pick next year VS K. Connor + his 1st round pick next year?

Absolutely! That trade i feel is well in your favor. Hits can be snagged on the waiver wire if you really needed to.

Yes. Connor is great, so you get a pick upgrade for not downgrading your player. That's a immediate accept.

I would not do that. Stutzle is turning into a multi-cat elite contributor. Connor is one dimensional. Yes he’s a great player. But Stutzle is going to be better, is 5 years younger, and not worth the possible future asset.

I'm leaning towards Stuetzle as well. In addition, Ottawa seems to be on a steady upward trajectory whereas Winnipeg looks to be middling. The "maybe I can get Bedard" virus is now endemic.

It can't be said enough; if you're rebuilding you shouldn't be trading away foundational young players just to get more assets.

I'd probably do it because you're getting an elite scorer AND an added 1/5 shot at Bedard.. Kyle Connor had 141 more shots than Stutzle last season which might balance the loss in hits a bit, although that might have been an anomaly, since he seems to hover around 230 shots in years previous.

Bedard is just on another level as a prospect. His junior team is bad, and he's over 2ppg, while performing massively in every tournament he's played in. He has 22 more points than the next highest on his team, in 22gp... let that sink in. If this trade brings you a 40% chance of getting Bedard... I'd say, count me in.

40% at Bedard or getting Michkov/Fantilli as consolation seems like a pretty damn good asset to add if you're two years away. And it's not like you're doing it for assets alone, you're getting Kyle Connor back too, lol.

I'd do that trade. I'd probably do it straight up, let alone getting the bonus upgrade in pick.

Connor for me. He is underevaluated. And 1st pick is just a great bonus

I thought the title of the thread was wrong and it was Stutzle+1st not a 3rd. I'd take the Connor+1st pretty quickly.

In 2-3months you can use your 1st round pick for an upgrade somewhere else since this 1st you're getting sounds like it'll be a Bedard possibility.

Exactly this. You flip one of the two picks and get a keeper upgrade.
