Default ROOS LETS LOOSE POLL: Calder Trophy Finalists

NOTE: Do not vote for Kuzmenko; I incorrectly included him, as he's too old to be eligible.

One of my most popular polls last season was where I asked you to pick your three Calder finalists from among 19 choices. If you don't recall the results of the accompanying poll, here they are: https://forums.dobbersports.com/show...alder-Nominees. You correctly picked the winner plus a finalist; but only 2 of the votes went to "One or more rookies not listed" to cover the third finalist Michael Bunting. How will you fare this time around? Let's find out!

You should pick exactly three of the 19 players listed, that is unless you do indeed think that one or more other rookies will be a finalist, you should select “One or More Rookies not Listed” either as your lone vote (i.e., if you think none of the 19 listed players will be a Calder finalist), or as one of your two votes (i.e., if you think only one of the 19 listed players will be a Calder finalist, and two won’t) or as one of your three votes (i.e., if you think only two of the 19 listed players will be Calder finalists, and one won’t).

As usual, please post who you voted for and why, for added interest/insight.

    My picks were:

Addison - well I had to pick him since I did so in the Experts preseason poll
Perfetti - he's a great fit and playing like he's already got three or four seasons under his belt
Robertson - I think he sticks and makes as much if not more noise than Bunting did last season

Beniers - my pick to win the Calder
Thompson - looks like he'll be able to give VGK solid goaltending all season
Perfetti - been under-the-radar effective on scoring line, Journey writer Ben Gehrels has sold me on him

I made a mistake in my voting and went Addison, Beniers, Logan Thompson (*didn't know Thompson qualified).
But I meant to go with Sanderson over Addison... as I think Sanderson is a far superior two-way defensemen that will get better with each game.

I think Beniers is going to run away with this.
Thompson is solid, but I think the workload runs him over at some point... he hasn't seen 50gp since his CHL days.
Also - at some point in rookie-winning... people start "expecting it"... and that sets in in a bad way with most young goalies (see Mason, Steve, Carey, Jim and Raycroft, Andrew.)
Then again... those guys I reference DID do it for a full/partial NHL season, not falling apart until the subsequent season. So - I guess I've countered my own reason. D'oh.

Still... I think Thompson will be top3, even as VGK trades for their playoff-run vet goalie in Feb.

Month #1 isn’t the whole year, and I always detest how the individual awards seem to be 70% decided, before 30% of the season has been played.
CONDORS, 2022-23 league champions, Reg Dunlop Mem Cup

12-team, H2H. Keep 12, but drop 2 of top four skaters, and also 2 of next six, then five more (from end-of-year rankings). One GK max.
