Is anyone else annoyed or distracted by the augmented reality (AR) board advertisements? Some of the ads are fine, but the animated ones like NHLSHOP.com are extremely eye-catching, which is the point yes, but i want to focus on the game. Maybe Im being a baby but I find its really distracting from the experience. Maybe Im taking out my frustrations as a Canucks fan on the boards. Looking for some consolation.

I'm actually really impressed by how smooth the board-TV-adverts are.
For me, it's a little weird to see something moving on the boards... but I don't find it any bit annoying and not distracting for me.
That said - I can get it that others might not like it.

I'm not a fan of the animated ads. The ones like in baseball where it's like a changing static billboard in the background are fine.

I have barely noticed them just like ads on helmets and jerseys.

The players and in attendance fans see the regular ads. The ones Im referring to are superimposed and only appear on the TV broadcast. Rather than being in sections, the animated advert technology can join all the boards together like a halo around the ice. One big ad.

This Karen is actually very annoyed. Im rather impervious to advertising but somehow theyve found one that works on me. The ads on the hemet are a bit bigger this year i also noticed and yeah now on some team jerseys too. Those are fine enough because they are static but these board ads are dynamic and im not sure how much more ill be able to take.

your not alone fella...i too find them annoying, but not distracting, if thats possible. i was ok with the virtual ads on the glass on on the ice, but this boards thing i dont like.

I know some of you, not all, will find it hard to believe that not that long ago, at least for me, there was no damn advertising on the ice. In the arena common areas yes, but not on the ice and that included the players. One exception was the sticks, ya the companies put they're name on them. Now, it's unreal. The day will come when not one inch of board, uniforms or ice surface will not be plastered with this stuff. The Spengler Cup is pretty much there now. I've now forgotten what a game looked in its natural state without all this noise. Annoying? Oh ya, and Tech is taking it to new levels, like most tech, it's out of control and the advertising industries is front and center and so is professional sports. OK, I'm done (:

It's easy to not think about it, don't beat yourself up!

If you watch close enough, depending on the camera angle, you can actually see the "REAL" printed ads on the boards that you'd normally see without the AR ads. Usually on the "ice level" views.
