Went to the game yesterday…second most boring game I been to through 40 minutes but what stood out was how poised Samsonov was. I own him in 5 leagues so I been watching him in the past and always thought he had potential but his style never appeared calm watching on TV. Not sure if he adjusted or just feels way different live… but I’m almost glad MM got hurt cause I think Sammy is better.

Murray outside of injury risk was the safer talent, Samsonov had the higher ceiling by far. This was likely always part of the "plan" but not this soon. Samsonov signed with Toronto for this opportunity too, so could play out well.
Murray going on LTIR for the groin injury is also a smart move for Murray and the Leafs cap management. No point rushing this injury.
With all the positive spin you can put on it though, Leafs still lost a goalie and their goalie depth was already suspect to start. Fingers crossed.
