[Rumour] Jason Robertson Close to Contract Extension

There's a lot of rumours about Dallas pushing hard to get a deal done with Robertson. They have ~$7.5m in space, and can get as much as $8.699m in space. They might be able to get a deal done without making a deal, but they'd be running a 12/6/2 roster with that $8.699 space situation, so maybe a trade will happen too.

That just seems so Ludacris. I understand that the predicament Dallas has put themselves in with Benn and Seguin but imagine having to trade your best forward in his prime because you can't find the space. I got imagine they get it done somehow.

My speculation here - they probably need to find a trade partner for Denis Gurianov.
(bc they need to move somebody in the $2.5m-$4.5m range to get proper cap situation)
[which makes the Mason Marchment signing look really, really dumb... IMO]


My guess is that Dallas needs to:
1. Settle on their 20-23 players for opening night, which will include Jason Robertson.
2. Give him the number that fits them close to exactly into their cap situation.

Because they've got some strong young kids at forward... I think that Denis Gurianov (RFA 2023) might be the guy that moves out.
That $2.9m (Gurianov cap hit) + $7.8m (current cap space, per capfriendly) gets them to $10.7m of cap space.

$8.5m to Robertson
+$0.1m to put NilsL on roster (Harley probably to AHL)
+$0.9m to bring Dellandrea up (13F)
+$0.75m to bring 14thF up... guy like Kero or Damiani or Tufte or Barber

They have Khudobin on IR right now for $3.3333m.

Khudobin would be the one that Dallas would likely want off the team, but probably don't want to attach the asset to him other teams want. But maybe something like 2-3yrs, $7.5m gets this done.
