OK - I'll post a quick recap for my draft. I always fade goalies as they are voodoo. i also went with a number of possible upside/max the GP strategy. I've also already traded for another goalie.

Rd 1 Cale Makar - Our first round was very interesting. Including me taking Makar at 4. I'm a firm believer in if you can get elite production from your D, do it. Mission accomplished.
Rd 2 Barkov - Best player available. Not worries about F positional availability...yet.
Rd 3 Svechnikov - Always a believer in this guy. He's never let me down in a multi-cat.
Rd 4 Hamilton - Again, determined to have elite D. At this point Josi, Hedman, Letang, Ekblad, Carlson were taken. Right time for this pick.
Rd 5 Filip Forsberg - Had him very highly ranked and feel like he fell a little here in the 5th. Starting to get a little worried about RW as P Kane and Tarasenko go right after this pick...
Rd 6 Hintz - Another top C on my list. In the back of my mind the lack of RW is starting to get louder. But all the RWs I had in the top tier are gone. Giroux with the next pick - had him on tier 2...
Rd 7 Heiskanen - Still a tier 1 D on the board so I took him. The last three were Chabot (who went earlier in the round), Heiskanen, and Werenski, who went at the end of this round. So good timing on this pick. Still no RW?!
Rd 8 Zuccalrello - Don't love this pick but very few of my tier 2 RWs were there. He's old but productive. Will Boldy usperp him? Meh. Not a fan of this pick.
Rd 9 Nichushkin - Another RW eligilble dude. This could go either way. Good mulitcat though.
Rd 10 Boldy - If he does usperp Zucc I'm all good now. Bit of reach. Needed RWs though.
Rd 11 Vanecek - About right for where to take a starter with a decent ceiling and floor. Like this pick.
Rd 12 Eriksson Ek - These are those not sexy but very effective fantasy players. Love it.
Rd 13 Grubauer - I like a 13th rd redemption story. He can't be worse than last year...right?
Rd 14 Bertuzzi - AH! Le pick juste.
Rd 15 Addison - Significant run on D around this time - just the cherry on top of an already nice group of D here.
Rd 16 M Foligno - again, unsexy by very effective fantasy player. Both of these have been Wild F? Hmmmm
Rd 17 Marchment - dual wing eligible. Similar player to Foligno. Multicat contributor in the Dallas top 6.
Rd 18 Hischier - Last C spot filled. Please be healthy.
Rd 19 Pacioretty - Stash for laste season heroics.
Rd 20 Allen - Volume. Little quality. Meh.
Rd 21 Neiderreiter - solid late round winger - good broad coverage and should have a good year.
Rd 22 Romanov - Seeing PP2 time and locking down some hits.
Rd 23 Drysdale - Bit of a sleeper. Could be ruined or complimented by Klingberg? Worried about +/- a little. A stat I hate but its here...
Rd 24 Comrie - Volume! Particularly when Anderson gets hurt week 1.
Rd 25 Chytil - Really like the shot attempt generation and line mates so far. Why the hell not?

GMs note: I've already traded Zucc. I didn't like the pick, which is dumb because he is quite good. But I traded him for RW C Brown, who will be good at least until Wilson is back. And now Oshie is out so maybe beyond too, and Samsonov. I really wanted to draft Samsonov as I feel he'll be the Leafs starter by the end of October. Murry is not good and this a fantastic reboot for Samsonov.

A bit late to the recap party. I went into that draft with very little preparation, I've been swamped with work lately. I had the 5th pick.

1. (5) Nathan Mackinnon (COL - C)
He is the only player in my top 5 that is available at that point so no question here.

2. (20) Brady Tkachuk (LW - OTT)
My targets for that round were mainly Hedman, Josi, Pastrnak, Fox. Fox was still available, but realized B Tkachuk was still on the board, I just couldn't pass up on his potential 300 SOG/300hits combo. I also hope his point total will increase a bit.

3. (29) JT Miller (C, LW - VAN)
I usually like to take a D in the first 3 rounds but with most of the top D gone, I decided to go with a winger. None of the RW were really enticing at that point with Meier taken a few picks before. I opted for Miller. He will probably regress a bit but his across the broad production makes him hard to pass at that point. Even with a regression in points, he his still worth the pick.

4. (44) John Carlson (D - WSH)
At that point I still don't have a D or RW, Carlson is the only D that I like still left on the board.

5. (53) Patrick Kane (RW - CHI)
I still don't have a RW, I see Kane is still on the board. Sure Debrincat leaving might hurt him and his +/- will probably suck this season, but his points, PPP and SOG production will likely still be near elite level. He is still worth more than a 5th round pick I think. I also consider drafting a goalie but there were still a few options left that I liked and hoped one of them would slide to the next round

6. (68) Rasmus Dahlin (D - BUF)
Hellebuyk and Jarry are taken before my pick and I don't like the G options for that round. I decided to go with my second D. Of the options available he is the one with the highest ceiling I think and produces across the board. I see his offensive numbers increasing a bit and hopefully his +/- as well with an improving BUF team.

7. (77) Sergei Brobovsky (G - FLA)
At that point, I really consider it is time to pick a goalie. Not the goalie I like the most, but I am comfortable picking him at that point in the draft

8. (92) Spencer Knight (G - FLA)
I like to lock goalie tandems on my teams, having picked Bob the previous round, I lock the FLA tandem. Florida might not be the best defensive team, but they will provide plenty of wins with potentially 60 between the two goalies. If Bob is in one of his bad years then Knight should pick up the starting job anyway.

9. (101) Jonathan Marchessault (LW, RW - VGK)
I like Marchessault in multi-cat leagues. He his pretty steady year to year and is dual eligibility is useful with many many of the positions remove from player early this season.

10. (116) Jonathan Quick (G - LA)
In retrospect, it might have been a bit early to pick Quick. My queue was filled with D options and all of them got picked before my turn. I kind of scrambled a little there. That's where my lack of prep began to show I think. There were better options available at G at that point but also that was my 3rd goalie in 4 rounds...

11. (125) Blake Wheeler (RW - WPG)
Again I think it was a bit of a reach. I like Wheeler better than most this year, but I think I could have waited at least a round or two. Larkin, Perron, Bennett were available at that point... but he's still a 70-80 pts player (wishful thinking?) providing a decent amount of hits and PPP.

12. (140) Bo Horvat (C - VAN)
My targets were Kempe, Terry, Perron, all taken before my turn. I settled for Horvat, at that point having picked 3G in the first 10 rounds I feel I'm thin at every forward positions. Horvat should provide decent amounts of SOG and hits.

13. (149) Seth Jones (D - CHI)
I think this is a pretty good pick at that point. I still see him as a 50+ point Dman with 100+ hits and 200+ SOG. The +/- will hurt, but at that point I already have a few players that will in the minus so I might punt the cat and hope for the best!

14. (164) Jeff Petry (D MTL)
At that point I am looking at either C, D or W, with Suzuki and Jeannot my main target picked I go for Petry. Petry tends to thrive when he is not the primary D on a team. Sure he probably won't have as much PP time with Letang in front of him as he did with Weber, but I think he is still good for 40+ pts on that PIT team to go along with his usual 100+ hits and 150+ SOG.

15. (173) Mathew Barzal (C - NYI)
I am surprised to see Barzal still on the board at this point. Sure he doesn't hit and his SOG are not that great, but his PPP are fairly decent and the potential for points are still worth a pick here.

16. (188) Tomas Hertl (C - SJ)
Another player I'm surprised to see still on the board at that point. Hopefully he repeats somewhat similar numbers to last year. 60+ pts along with 100+ hits and 200ish SOG is nothing to sneeze at this point. Also, I hoped he would get his usual C, LW eligibility at some point in the season.

17. (197) Viktor Arvidsson (LW,RW - LA)
I need wingers especially RW. He still has upside for goals, should provide good SOG number if healthy. Completely forgot about Stephenson and Björkstrand which were taken soon after my pick.
18. (212) Cal Petersen (G - LA)
As mentioned before, I like to handcuff goalie tandems. Since, I already had Quick, I felt it was time to pick Peterson to ensure a second goalie tandem. Again, Petersen should be there to cover should Quick falter.

19. (221) Travis Konecny (RW - PHI)
I liked Konecny at that point. Hopefully he builds on his 200 SOG and 1 hit/game season.

20. (236) Colton Parayko (D - STL)
The players I am targeting there are Matheson, Orlov and Durzi which are taken right my pick. I settled for Parayko. Still OK for a 5th Dmen.

21. (245) David Krejci (C - BOS)
Again the player Benn and Niederreiter are taken before my pick. I go for Krejci, pickings are slim at that point and I hope he can provide some offence at some point as a bench player.

22. (260) Phil Kessel (RW - VGK)
Again, another older guy on a decent team. If he can find his place on one of the first two lines and the PP, his numbers should increase a little, same goes for his +/-

23. (269) Filip Hronek (D - DET)
I still need to fill my 6th D. Even with Seider's emergence, Hronek still provided near 40 pts last season. Sure his +/- was horrible but this should improve along with the team.

24. (284) Jesse Puljujarvi (RW - EDM)
Needed a RW, went through the list and didn't find of anything. Went with him for his +/- and hits. Hopefully he figures it out point wise, but not much hope here.

25. (293) Jami Hankapaa (D- DAL)
Filler D, provide hits and shouldn't hurt on the +/-

Considering the lack of prep, I am OK with my team. I should be 1st third of the pack in offence stats, while SOG and Hits should be near the top. My obvious weakness is +/-. Goalie stats should be OK, with GAA middle of the pack and decent amounts of Wins and SV.
