Colorado - Starting Goalie

I think this debate has been definitively settled. 40 wins in 62 games played. 9.18 save percentage. Georgiev was the number one goalie to own in all my fantasy leagues this season eking out Hellboy with the final win last night. Looks like there was a reason Colorado management and their scouting unit wanted Georgiev to be their starter.

Swing and a miss for me. I thought Francouz was the guy.
Especially because I tend to favor the goalie who has played behind this team's defense for a year or more.

That said - picking a goalie on a 50/50 is a bit like the story I had about my buddy who convinced his wife that doggy-style baby-making style would net them a girl.
He had a 50/50 shot. They had a girl. He looks like a genius and had fun.

Nobody should do too much back-patting on 50/50 goalie choices!
But congrats to those that (somehow) confidently chose Georgiev!
We'll see what team has the 50/50 choice next year and which of our pundits can flip that second consecutive "Heads"... (or "Tails" - whichever is the good one. LOL)

I was pro-Francouz but Georgiev stayed healthier and played better. At their ADPs the 50/50 coin flip was worth it for Francouz so no regrets.

Fortunately I was able to hit on other goalies with later-ADPs so all good.

With all the injuries the Avs had it was a good thing Georgiev stayed healthy and dominant. Has to be their team MVP.

The signing of Georgiev by the Avs was huge this season. They may not even be in the playoffs if it was not for him. The team was not the same team as they were in the 2021-2022 season mostly because of injuries, but also the loss of Kadri. Losing Kuemper was not a big deal at all with Georgiev stepping up.

This thread always baffeld me. It was cleaer from last July Georgiev was the inteded starter from the minute they signed him.

Although Francouz has better numbers than Georgiev does, experience in workload will play a big factor in the decision making process for coach Jared Bednar. Georgiev has a full regular season under his belt already as a starter in New York, where the most Francouz has played in one season was 34 games in 2019-20. President of Hockey Operations Joe Sakic has also said that the Avalanche traded for Georgiev with the intention of him starting.

Now if the thread was will Francouz upend him or will it be more of a timeshire I get it, but to wonder who was ever the number 1 going into the season was setteld before the season even started.
