Default Trade away 1st+ for Fox?

This is for the league in my signature. The offer on the table is my 2023 (next year) 1st round pick + a high 2022 pick for his A Fox and a mid 2022 draft pick. On the surface, I take it because I’m pushing for a title this year. However, next year our league is reducing from 9 keepers to 7 keepers. That makes this call harder. I’m already going to have a hard time getting down to 7 keepers from the guys you see below. And I feel like my 1st round pick next year becomes a lot more valuable as there will be other teams like me who’ll have to dump “keeper level” players back into the free agent pool.

I appreciate advice on what you all think.

seem a good deal for my case your keeper shoul look like (vasi, makar, fox, hedman, kucherov, zibanejad and connor) hamilto is the odd man out at D ovy will be a year older so production might drop a littler more and i prefer connor to laine

In the league in my signature, I traded away Byfield and my 1st last year for Fox. Dobber boards were in agreement that I should make the deal even though Fox has some unsustainable metrics that helped him to his season last year.

People in my league lost their minds that I won another lopsided trade.

To make sure I follow, does that mean you think it makes sense to make this deal? Can’t tell if you’re saying you did a similar deal and were happy. Or that he has unsustainable metrics so it’s not wise to give up my picks.

Sorry, I can see how it wasn't clear.

I was in contention and ended up winning. If you are in contention (which you said you are), I do this trade all day. I'd do it again if a similar situation arises. Yes, do the deal and worry about next years lower keeper numbers later.

I'd do this deal and go for the win, then next off-season, I'd consider trading away one of your other keeper D (Hamilton or Hedman) for picks in return, much like you are doing today.

Great deal for you. Fox plays great in your scoring format, as he’s one of the elite scoring D-men out there.

In a keep-7 this is a no-brainer. You can't keep all of the prospects you draft anyway.

May have missed it but does this affect this years keepers? IE will you need to drop one of your bolded 9 to make space for fox?
If that's the case, is there a chance to do this trade immediately following the 2022 draft for a decent player and your 1st next year so you don't lose a valuable piece due to keeper limits?

I would do this deal. You can move one or both of Hedman and Hamilton next off-season to help get down to 7 keepers. But Fox is a stud. Having him and Maker for the foreseeable suture is a big win.
    12 Teams, 23 Players (max 3 goalies), H2H, Keep 15 (max 2 goalies)

    Keepers:
C - Matthews, Eichel, Hughes (LW), Pettersson
LW - Kaprizov, Svechnikov (RW), Guentzel, Fiala, Keller (RW)
RW - Marner, Meier (LW), Laine(C/LW), Jarvis (C)
D - Dahlin, Sergachev, Theodore, Klingberg, Werenski, Peeke, Cernak
    G - Shesterkin, Sorokin, Merzlikins
    IR - Pacioretty, Ristolainen
