Acquiring Hellebucyk

ESPN h2h 12 team keeper league, 24 player roster - Keep 10 (max 2 goalies):
G, A, PIM, SHOTS, , FW, HIT, BLK, STP
W, SV, SV%, SO

Keepers: Huberdeau, Eichel, Laine, Robertson, Hintz, Teravainen, Bratt, Boldy, Theodore, Dahlin

I finished last season 5th in standings and 2nd in playoffs.

I am happy with my 10 keepers but I am without a goalie. My current goalies look like this:
Lehner (dead), Vanacek, Samsonov

Not convinced either Vanacek or Samsonov have enough value to keep over any of my 10.

Hellebuyck is available from a manager who has a goalie surplus. Seems to want a 1st and possibly a player like Hintz may get it done.

I draft 10th overall, then 15th. I don’t see Helly making it to me in the draft, and the other tenders out there are likely to be Georgiev, Francouz, Merzlinkins, Talbot, Husso, Binnington, Forsberg, Ned, Murray and then not much else to write home about.

Wondering what my fellow Dobber folks would do in my situation? Is there enough in the draft to get me somewhat stable tending this year (I don’t think so, but I’ll listen)? Or do I need to target Helly? Thanks in advance.

i dont mind moving 1st and Hintz for Helly . Im assuming its first rounder this year? if its next and has a chance to be in top 5 then no.

but i also think that Samsonov wont be far from Helly by end of the year

I’m thinking with Murray in the fold lots of managers are treading carefully on who to pick up. I should be able to draft Samsonov a bit later in my draft. Could be great value if he takes the reins in Toronto. Considering Murray’s injury history, he may not even have to outplay him to do so.

I think you'd be okay with what is in the draft, if you get the right guys.

Francouz, Georgiev, and somebody will work.
Talbot/Forsberg and somebody should work.

Elvis, Vanecek, Samsonov, should all be useful.

If you threw back Samsonov and waited and got Elvis as your 1st goalie, that wouldn't be too shabby. Then go and get a bit later Samsonov and Vanecek back. I would roll that way.

keep Hintz, draft a goalie. Helly is too up and down to deal that nice asset.

Thanks everyone for the input. I ended up giving Hintz and 1st (10th overall) for Jarry and 3rd (27th overall). Snake draft so my second rounder is at #15.

Lots of interesting players dropped into our draft, so I don’t feel too bad about losing Roope.

yeah i like Helly way more than Jarry. I think helly is still top 6-7 G and gets bulk of starts. He also usually follows bad season with good one so he is due. I think not trading for goalies was the preference but if you were to trade for one i surely would prefer Helly, specially that it sounds like you paid about the same price.

Late to the party but this is what I would of done. But I would rather roll with Jarry than Helle atleast
