Is he a lock to make the team? Of so, what are realistic projections for year 1?

He's no lock to make the team. I think unless he tanks in camp (he's been fine so far), he will get the minimum 9 games cup of coffee.

If he makes the team for the year, I'd expect around 30-35 points.

From what I've seen and read about him in NHL preseason games (not rookie camp games)... he won't make the team.
He doesn't look like he has NHL pace and/or timing.

I'd put him at 10% shot to play more than 9gp.

If he makes the team... it'll be just a "show" for the fans - and he'll only get sheltered <10min per game time until his 9gp are logged.
He's just.not.close right now.
He needs a full season... maybe two... at AHL level.

I mean, he's played one preseason game and was just fine in it. I agree that he probably won't play the whole year in Montreal, especially since the option to send him to the AHL is available. But I'd be a little more bullish than 10% to play 9g.

i thought he played 2 but yesterday he was just fine. I dont agree that he does not have enough pace, his timing is off tho that is for sure but everything else about him screams NHL...

i think he plays in AHL and gets games later, the 9 game does not matter for him, he didnt play in CHL

Oops... I thought 10+ gp burned a year of ELC for any player.
I didn't know that was just for CHL players. Good to know.

Habs have an abundance of players fighting for a roster slot. Won't be surprised to see some traded away come the Trade Deadline.
