Default Ty Smith for Oliver Wahlstrom

I currently have a surplus of defensemen on my team and could use help to offset that imbalance with Fs with category coverage such as Wahlstrom, who shoots and hits at a high per 60 rate. Team-wise, I have Petry already, and by the time Smith figures it out (if he does), Crosby and Malkin and the entire PIT team are unlikely going to be a good team anymore.

In contrast, Wahlstrom is expected to take a step forward this season and I truly believe the only direction the Islanders can go is up from here even though their prospects aren't the most sexy. I'm also hoping the coaching change will invigorate Wahlstrom whereas most Trotz-led teams are stifled offensively.

    What do you all think?

Is Wahlstrom expected to take a step forward? I'm not sure. He seems sort of headcase-ish. Also, the coaching change in NYI was to a Trotzian disciple, so I don't see a wild change to an offensive system. We're going to see more of the same.

In a vacuum, I'd want Smith. If you have an overflow of defenseman, I can understand wanting to even things out. But seeking Wahlstrom wouldn't be my target and neither would dealing Smith.

I think it makes sense positionally for you, if you're loaded on D.

I'm not really sure why Petry is relevant and Letang isn't, if we're discussing the Penguins, unless you happen to have Petry as Letang insurance. Letang is the man there, period.
