Keller eh? There has been one player in team history to go past 80 points mark..

it’s actually decent trivia question… it was done once, it was 86 points and both sons of this player are stars in NHL today.

anyhow, history and most importantly status of the team is strong against Keller

    Keller.
I liked his game last season and things finally seemed to be clicking for him and Schmaltz.

As to your trivia question answer; Keith Tkachuk.

Im a bit surprised by the top vote getters. Svechnikov just doesn’t get the deployment to be a PPG player. I’d love it if he did but I don’t see it. Pettersson really surprises me. Three big things I see standing in his way…
    1. too many dicks on the dance floor with that Van offense.
    2 he’s too small still.
    3. To score a lot your team needs to be in the O zone a lot. This Van team is going to be spending too much time in its own zone because Hughes can’t play 45 mins a night.

I can see Larkin with the upgrades in Det maybe. Ehlers will see the ice time but again, there’s just not enough support. It’ll be fun to see how this goes though! Great poll Rick.

I went with Bratt, Hintz, Keller, Larkin, Meier and Pettersson. First line players (though I guess maybe not for Pettersson) and top PP players coming off strong years or strong second halfs last year.

The thing is so many of these players have paced or been so close to pacing for PPG. Hintz PPG in shorten season, Meier 76 points in 77 games last years, Pettersson 66 points in 68 games a couple seasons ago. It's going to happen for a handful of them this year. I would be shocked if there isn't at 3 possible more from this list.

You and me both. I cannot understand the Svech worship. His ice time, deployment, and IPPs - they're just not point per game material. But I've been proven wrong before; so between that and popular sentiment, I included him in the poll.

Thanks - I'm glad people seem to be enjoying it, and the accompanying column doesn't even get released until tomorrow!

Thanks to the astute readers who pointed out my error - Timo Meier is Swiss, not German. Now fixed in the column.
