Pop quiz - how many players averaged a point per game last season while playing in at least half their team's games? My guess was 29, but the answer was 44. One more question - of those 44, how many did so for the first time in their career? Here too I was low, as I figured 7; however, it actually was nearly double that at 13. That got me to wondering who might become new point per game club members in 2022-23. And with that in mind, comes this month's poll.
I've listed the 20 players - in alphabetical order - I feel have the best chance to become newly minted point per game scorers for 2022-23. Your task is to vote for however many you believe will indeed finish 2022-23 with an average of at least a point per every game. So you can vote for as many as you believe will meet the criteria. Note that in order for a player to get your vote, he doesn't necessarily have to score 82 points, unless of course you think he'll play all 82 games. Rather, this is based on points per game; so as long as the player will have at least as many points as games played, he should get your vote.
As usual, please post here who you voted for and why, as that way we can see not only the results but the logic behind the voting.
Lastly - one brief scheduling note in that my column for October 5th will be my annual 15 fearless forecasts, and that too will have a poll to allow you to vote for the ones you think have the best chance of coming true. After that it'll be back to my regular columns, starting with a mailbag, which could use more questions, so long as they're not about keepers or draft advice, as the column won't run until after the season has started. To send me a question, either private message it to me here or send an email [email protected] with "Roos Mailbag" in the title and with your question in the body of the email.

My votes went to:
Fox - what he did in the playoffs made a believer out of me
Hintz - but for a slow start last season he might've made it, plus Bowness and his stingy ice time philosophy are now gone
Keller - was on his way before getting hurt, and he's good enough to reach the total despite a lousy team around him
Larkin - last season was consistent, now with a better team around him, particular with Perron on the PP, a rising tide will lift his boat
Suzuki - was above a point per game for the last 33 contests of the season, and had 20 PPPts despite the team only having 34 PPGs in total
Thompson - Buffalo will be vastly improved as a team, and he was above a point per game for most of 2021-22

Talent plus opportunity…to include the supporting cast. Thus I went Norris, Stutzle, Hintz, and Hischier. Everyone else has sustainability flags or crappy team flags. Except Fox. But who was the last PPG D? Carlson?

Hintz
Meier
Norris
Svech
Only Pettersson.
I went with Stutzle, Svech and dark horse in Bertuzzi…really wanted to add Meier but I don’t think supporting cast is good enough to allow him to do that just yet…PP will hurt without burns once EK gets hurt…

I voted Bratt, Pettersson and Ehlers
Ehlers was basically there 2 seasons ago and Bratt was basically there last season. Petey just needs to not have one of those weird slumps that he has sometimes
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
Going with Petersson, Hirschier, Stutzle, & Norris.
Ehlers

Went with only Pettersson and Ehlers.
I choose Bratt, Keller, Larkin, and Pettersson
