Default In or out : make cuts to draft more

Will try to be simpler this time.

    Team in sig.

Salary league (so MacKinnon will be 16.5 next year).

    Start 3C, 3LW, 3RW, 6D and 2G every week.

    30 player teams, 14 teams.

Will be one of three, maybe four teams with room. More or less 10 teams will have to significantly cut.

SO I'LL BE HAPPY TO CUT AVERAGE PLAYERS ON DECENT CONTRACTS and draft better players with worse contracts.

Ex : This team is 30M OVER the cap, so they'll cut at least two from Krug 8M, Severson 5.1M, Boeser 6.65M or Reinhart 8M.
Ex : This team is 30M OVER so they'll cut likely all of S. Jones 10M, Parayko 7.25M, Palat 8.25M.

    ---

Linus Ullmark 6M for 45 points...... KEEP or CUT?
I see BOS trending down, Ullmark starting MAX 45 games, and many teams are stuck without goalies. But then Gustavsson would be my #3 in case of an injury.

PL Dubois 6M for 55 points..... KEEP or CUT?
Not sure he'll be treated like a star as WPG knows he wants out. Not sure he can reach that next gear. But am I better if I draft Barzal at 10M? Not sure.

Viktor Arvidsson 4.25M for 45 points...... KEEP or CUT?
Last time he was efficient + healthy, it was five years ago. Sounds like a gamble that could pay off at 4.25, or just 3M i could use elsewhere and draft a 40 point third liner elsewhere.

Matt Grzelcyk 4.25M for 25 points...... KEEP or CUT?
Injured to start the year, could come back before McAvoy to reignite something he showed us... or tease us for 10 games and then be back on PP2.

I'm pretty set on dropping Kalnyuk, Clague, and Konecny (what a $hit$how in Philly it will be + salary on the rise, and I'm not seeing them turning the corner for two years). Would be happy dropping six guys total.

I'd cut the ones you are set on, plus Grzelcyk & Arvidsson for sure.

I keep Dubois, as I think he can reach 60+, and that's enough for that salary.

Need goalie scoring to think about Ullmark.

I second this. Keep Dubois, drop the others.

Dubois - he'll be playing well to up his value, or he gets traded, in which case he'll be more emphasized. It's a win-win either way.

    Thank you all!

    Now, if I may...

What would you target with that extra Cap space?

Any of these guys are either available, or I think their owner will be looking to drop them.

    Zack Werenski, D, 10M
    Torey Krug, D, 8M
    Jaccob Slavin, D, 5.5M
    Ryan Pulock, D, 6.15M

    And

    Filip Forsberg, LW, 10M
    Brayden Point, C-RW, 9M
    Mark Stone, RW, 8M
    Nazem Kadri, C, 7M
    Chris Kreider, LW, 6M
    Evander Kane, LW-RW, 6.25M

    OR

Pay the price to try to lure a solid piece, but might have to include 1st rounders or prospects to convince owner to make the move :

Nathan MacKinnon, C, 6.85M but jumping to 16+ next year
    Alexander Barkov, C, 12M
Kevin Fiala, LW-RW, 6.5M (I think the owner will sacrifice multiple players before letting Fiala go, but I'd make a solid offer if I was convinced it was worth it)

I like Kreider & Kane. Still haven't heard about your goalie scoring.

Looks like my post is gone instead of edited.

    2pts win
    1pt shutout
1pt for OT loss or SO loss.

Globally allowed 6 changes in our lineup unless there's an injury or a player gets demoted. So it's weekly, but consider it yearly.

14 teams who all have 3 to 4 goalies, including most top G prospects. But Askarov and Wallsteadt signed this sommer and will be drafted late 1st or early 2nd I guess.

Given that scoring, I would have tossed Ullmark back, so that was the right call. I'd look to pick up a cheap goalie in the NHL who isn't owned, yet should get tandem work.

Yup Kreider and Kane. Werenski could be worth the money if you have enough to spend.

I'll cut Dubois because of the flexibility it will give me.

Eichel, Larkin and Rossi are only C, and so is Dubois.

If I keep Dubois, I must draft LW only.
Now, I could add a C or a LW or a RW (And put Terry C as he has the eligibility).

    So they're all cut

Sadly no trades have materialized. Fiala and Barkov owners are greedy and nobody wants my garbage!

    Alright, cuts are officially in.

Last minute traded Ullmark for a 3rd to the team who owned Mrazek + the duo Mike Smith/Koskinen as his goalies last season.

Cut all the others from the post + Cayden Primeau to give me the flexibility to draft. Primeau was a last minute add because it feels like with Allen signing for two more years, he won't be relevant for three more seasons. And that's if he's not dealt, if they don't acquire a better prospect, or if he doesn't stumble. Just a waste of a spot.

Finally, the guy with Werenski kept him and cut elsewhere.

So, the perfect draft has me with Kane, Kreider, Kadri, Stuart Skinner and 2 prospects. And whatever I have left for a D that plays in the NHL.

So in the end, here's how it unfolded... it's not drafted him for him, but on my roster, here's how it looks :

    Primeau became Stolarz.
    Dubois became Pavelski.
Walnyuk and Clague became Jiricek and Goligoski.
    Grzelcyk became Slavin.
Konecny and Arvidsson became Kane and Zuccarello.

And I dealt Ullmark, so with the money left, drafted on my empty spot Brink.

    Cap at 95M, team at 94.953M !

    Got better but older.
