Default Joined a league, need a Ranger

    Hi everyone.

I took over a team in a H2H multi-cat dynasty league where my affiliated team is the Rangers. However, with off-season moves, I am now short 1 Ranger to meet requirements. Team needs some retooling to contend, I think, as I have no high-end Ranger skaters, except Panarin. Daily starts, 4C/LW/RW, 6D, 1G. Skater cats are as follows: G A +/- PIM SOG PPP SHP Hit Blk FOW

    My options are:
    Sammy Blais - LW
    Filip Chytil - C
    Dryden Hunt -LW
    Matthew Schneider -D
    Ryan Reaves - RW

Could also just take a prospect and keep them in the minors.

Leaning towards one of the top 4 guys, although Reaves is good with PIM & hits.
    10 team H2H dynasty. 33 player roster, 2 round draft. Start 1 G, 1 backup G, 6 D, 12 F arranged in 4 lines of 3. Only Goals, Assists, Save% matter. Having NHL teammates helps.

    G: Shesterkin
    Backup G: Oettinger
D: Carlson, Ekblad, Letang, Makar, Fox, Trouba

    F1: Boeser, JT Miller, MacKinnon
    F2: Robertson, Seguin, Giroux
    F3: Point, Stamkos, Guentzel
    F4: Schiefele, Wheeler, Teravainen

    Bench:
    G: (none)
    D: Heiskanen, Klingberg, M Reilly
F: Benn, Bertuzzi, Couturier, Jenner, Mercer, Necas, Perfetti, Newhook, Voracek
    Rights: Dahlen

I agree, I'd take a shot at Blais and hope he stays healthy.

I don’t know about Blais sticking on the top line so I would go with Chytil or Reaves. This is still training camp talk and usually things tend to revert back to what works, I don’t believe the hype is all. Good luck

Just for confirmation - Is it Matthew Schneider or Braden Schneider... I would consider taking a shot on Braden Schneider.

I know its a small sample size - but last year in 40 games he had 11 points, 60 hits and 52 blocks.

Along with 9 points in 24 AHL games.

Bot gonna light it up offensively by any means but still giving you some contributions on the scoreboard while averaging over a hit and BS per game.

Even if he doesn't stick, Blais is one of the premier hitters in the league. That has value in a cats league. Though I agree the same can be said for Reaves, he's not producing over 10-14 points. Blais has a chance for 30-35 and that's fine for me. Chytil is simply too 'meh' in all cats for me.

In your format I think the best two options are Reaves and Blais. The safe choice is Reaves, however, as others have already pointed out, taking a chance on Blais could pay off big time. I'm taking a shot, I'm going with Blais.

I agree with this, especially since Lundkvist off the team. Safe 3rd paid Dman with some upside and gets the peripherals.

I want to thank everyone for replying, rep passed out where possible.

It was Braden Schneider, I clearly should've used both first & last names.

I'm going to look at Blais & Schneider as options to add once things open up.

I was thinking about this some more..
Largely depending on the setup of the league

Another benefit of tying up the 'Ranger' slot on your team with a D-man is that you might be able to get a better forward that is not on the Rangers for the forward slot... but potentially not either.

So another factor that I didn't think of when I initially responded was what teams need to lock up a player from their 'team'
and what player this will be left available for you to fill other spots.

What I can say from playing in roto version of this league for two years is two things:

    1. You absolutely want to lock up the good players on your team. I had a choice of two teams, this or a Vegas team which was decent, but I preferred this. despite it being the despised Rangers, due to Igor.

The Ranger group I have is sub-par right now, but has potential compared to the league where I'm the Jets:
    Panarin
    LaFreniere
    Kakko
    K. Miller
    Igor

    Schiefele
    Connor
    Wheeler
    Ehlers
    Pionk
    Hellebuyck
    Perfetti - minors

    2. Switching affiliated teams happens, but takes some work, since these are dynasty leagues.

If anyone is interested, both leagues have openings.
