I was debating between pick 4 and 5.
I feel there's a cliff on the very last three picks so didn't want to go 1-3 (As in their definite last placers in that cat).
Decided to go 5th to not be locked into a pick. See if a team I like to maybe not be 2nd last falls.

Good start... I would've speculated that CAR-D and NYR-SV% would've been first two of the board.
Those are actually tough picks because one expects that'll repeat and be worth 32pts...
We.shall.see. (FWIW, I would've picked the same at #1 and #2. CAR-D takes a bit of a hit with C2-Trocheck departed.)

I had to go with the Florida offense with NY SV% off the board. They were just so far ahead of everyone last year. That being said, it will be tough for them to repeat that feat this year

Tough to argue with the Toronto offence. About as safe a pick as there was out there and I didn't want to overthink it

Florida will be interesting.
They were #1 in shots for per game last year (37.34) by a LOT... next was BOS at 36.12 and Calgary at 35.46.
And Florida was #4 in shooting percentage at 11.0%. St.Louis was #1 at 12.4% and top of league was generally 11.4%-10%.

Losing Huberdeau's 33 PPA will be quite interesting... but that's big goal-scoring $$$ when a team has an electric PP unit.
It'll be interesting too to see how close Duclair (18.7%), Barkov (18.2%), and Reinhart (17.7%) come to repeating their high SH%s.

I'll forecast this will be the first non top-3 (i.e. sub30pt) selection.
Not a bad selection... but first volatile one!


One thing I wasn't aware of... Florida's offense was pretty good in the two years previous to last as well.
They were #6 in GF in 20/21 and #7 in GF in 19/20... so they'll get their goals.
