Default Tony Deangelo This Season and Beyond

I'm curious to hear others' thoughts about Tony Deangelo. He is still getting some pretty generous predictions, but I just don't see it. I guess somebody has to score points there. Can he pull off something like Ghost did in Arizona last season?

I came in 2nd last season, and with my team, I believe I have maybe 2 more years of being a contender, and Deangelo could be either make me or break me.

I may be able to flip him as part of a trade for Krug, who is also not so much of a sure thing anymore, but is probably the safer play.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated, and will rep where possible. Thanks!

I much prefer DeAngelo over Krug for all formats and categories in fantasy hockey.

I don’t think Deangelo does as good this season but still prefer him over Krug

Yes, I see DeAngelo ahead of Krug. I see him providing somewhere around these short of points. 10-15 goals and 30-40 assists.

Scoring is up especially among dmen. While I don't like the Torts factor in Philly, I still think Tony D is a top notch offensive option from the back end. Definitely like him more than Krug going forward

I think DeAngelo is the definition of feast or famine in that I'd say he's as likely to best 60 points as he is to finish below 40. Krug seems like he'll be right in the middle. So Krug is the safe pick and DeAngelo is the one to go with if you're feeling optimistic.

Carolina was a picture perfect spot for him last season.
I think he keeps his act together enough to stay in the league but I can see his play/effort level/results diminishing when he's not put in a great position to succeed on a competitive team.

Flyers are awful and if Couturier misses significant time it is a problem. Nonetheless I expect something like 40-50 points and a big ole -30 for this season with hopefully some improvement in pts and +/- moving forward

Well, thanks all for the replies. Guess I will continue riding with Deangelo unless someone makes me an offer I can't refuse. Fortunately we do not count +/-, so I'll cautiously hope for 40-50, and see what happens.

Since no +/-, I might be ok keeping TDA, but no way he gets 50 points on this AHL team that is also injured, has a new coach, new system, will be exhausted from bag skating and no breakout talent threat except maybe Tippet. I predict 38-43 points with 19 of them from PP. He may even lead the team in points, smh. I think this is a slam dunk if not for Blue's stacked blueline and Perunovich on tap. That might leave Krug with only about 40 points.

Then also cross fingers that he isn't parked in Torts' doghouse for not keeping his stupid mouth shut (which he won't)... he was just beginning to get comfortable with media chats at end of the season on a very winning Carolina. Canes did a smart thing here. And I really hate bustin' on a fellow South Jersey boy.

People way forget that krug was on peace for 55 plus point but was hurt… he ain’t done he he could very well have 40 points by all star break…

I would also prefer TD , specially in multicat leagues but Krug is very close just much older…

    DeAngelo this year & next:
The best forward and 2nd best D (Provorov 1st) are out for the year or longer.
Coach isn't offense-friendly, and he could hit the doghouse, and lose icetime and role.
Bad team talent. Does a top line of Konency-Hayes-Laughton/Tippett/JVR scare anyone? No.
GM is likely worst current GM, and in all-time worst contention.
He's usable in points-only, and that's your format.

The difference with Gostisbehere is he was on a better team with less injuries. Realize that last year's Flyers are down Giroux & Couturier from the initial lineup.
