Ovy for Holtz/Bean (WILL REP)

Not for league in sig. 10 team keeper league. Standard settings. I would be getting Ovy in the deal.

Is this a no brainer? I finished first in the regular season last year and lost by a hair in the playoffs. I’m all in and adding Ovy would help me much more this year than Holtz and Bean. Down the road I see Holtz being a perennial 40+ goal scorer especially if he clicks with Hughes. But nothing is guaranteed. At this point it’s still just potential.

Should I pull the trigger? That’s what my gut is telling me but would like some other opinions. Will rep where possible.

I would do it. If you win the pool then it doesn't really matter what those 2 do down the road. There aren't many opportunities to win a pool let alone get close to winning one. Good luck.

Don’t overthink this.

Getting players like Ovi on the cheap because other GMs like shiny new toys is a proven recipe for victory.

Yeah it was offered to me out of the blue last night by the commish who won 2 years ago. I almost smash accepted but then thought maybe I'm missing something and told him I'd sleep on it. Woke up and realized I was overthinking it and accepted. My team is pretty filthy now and set to contend for years.

I wish you luck, as keep in mind Ovi was less than a point per game guy over the last 55 games of 2021-22, plus won't have his protector Wilson for a while or his PP buddy Backstrom for....maybe ever.

How far do you think he regresses? I am still thinking he's good for at least a 75 point pace and 40 goals.

The 40 goals are probably a lock cuz....well....its Ovi; but I'm not sure he totals more than 70 points, if even that.

All I need is for him to produce lots of goals and SOGs (and sprinkle in some hits) to compete this year and next (my best window to win). If I can get 40 goals, 20 assists and 300ish shots I'm laughing. It will take Holtz 3 + years before he hits his stride/200 GP and hopefully by then I will have won a championship and will be shining my trophy and counting my money.

damn, i intended to post my thoughts yesterday, anyways! Yeah I'm doing this deal all day if it means going for the win. I like Holtz and Bean, but let him take the risk on players that have barely played in the NHL while you reap the rewards of a generational talent who's probably got two+ 40 goal seasons left in him.

Ovi should be better side of this for the duration of his current contract which is 4 more years.

i love Holtz but you looking at the guy that scored 50+ goals at 36 ...yes he just turned 37 and will be 41 once the contract ends but i think at worst he averages 30 goals next 4 season and i would pot my money on 35 plus. Holtz be lucky to have one 30 goal season by then...
