Rank 'Em - Tarasov, Dostal, Annunen

We all know goalie prospects are a crapshoot but how would you rank Tarasov, Dostal, and Annunen? Does Annunen have a chance to be the goalie-of-the-future for a great Avs team? Is Gibson on his way out, paving the way for Dostal to backstop an upcoming Ducks squad? Is Tarasov the best prospect of the three?

I'd take Dostal over Tarasov, simply because Elvis is signed as the guy for 5 more years in Cmb while it's way more open in Ana.

Call me optimistic but think Merzlikins will be supplanted as early as the 2nd half of this season. I see Merzlikins as a goalie with a ton of enthusiasm but not on the same lever with raw talent, a great middle of the road option but never going to be the star.

Unless injuries happen, I don't see Tarasov in the NHL until next year.

I'm a big Tarasov fan, but without an injury, I have a hard time seeing him overtaking Elvis this season. The Blue Jackets are going to be reluctant to bench Elvis, either because of his contract or because they'll want to showcase him in hopes of making a trade to open up a spot for Tarasov next season. Best case scenario for Tarasov is probably a time share, similar to Ullmark and Swayman in Boston.

I'm not going to pretend to be able to predict the future but I see a more fluid situation where if Tarasov impresses for any stretch they ride him until he doesn't. I personally think he's very capable of doing that but I will concede that management's evaluation of the potential payoff vs consequences would ultimately decide whether or not they ride the situation or try to get the most out of all their assets.

I rank them Tarasov, Dostal, and then a Annunen. I think the best case scenario for the goalie to start first is Dostal. Now will he be the goalie who has the most success, I don't think so. I think that will go to Tarasov. As for Annunen, it all depends on what Georgiev does for the Avs.

Can someone explain the Tarasov hype to me?

Is it because of the results of his 175 NHL minutes last season? His AHL numbers are not good at all in the 17 games played in that league over the past two seasons. His KHL numbers from 2020/21 were not even top 10 in that league. What am I missing with him?

He also had hip surgery this past spring so he won't be back to 100% till close to midseason. Might be a good time to swipe in and trade for him if he gets off to a rough start.
