Guys like Tarasenko and ROR both expire at the end of this year. I have a hard time seeing either of them taking a pay cut so I am going to put 1+1 together and assume neither guy will be back next year in STL now that Thomas and Kyrou are basically taking up their cap hits, starting next year.

Wow... NHL salaries are going to need to go up significantly... I don't mind this deal... but the cap has to go up for teams to be able to manage the 8 million salaries for 70 point guys.

Younger but still makes JT Millers contract look better IMO. This is a big time overpayment.

I get the Thomas extension more because we typically assume centers are worth more but as soon as Thomas got that deal it made it easy for Kyrou's camp to demand the same.

With a deal like this it would seem Stl. believes this is going to be his floor, 70-80, with 80+ upside.
One of those, we'll overpay you now to have this as a value deal in years 4-8.
For Cap leagues... he's essentially even money. Def. not in a conversation for value players.
Hughes, Norris, Svechnikov, Suzuki, Duchene, Hertl $8.12m doesn't seem out of place when compared -
75pts in 74 games in his first full season in the NHL. fair market value at worst
