Interesting that all three years are one way considering he's most likely in the AHL this year at a minimum. Allen is on the last year of his deal and Montembeault has two left. I uave a hard time seeing Montreal roll with a goalie tandem of Primeau and Montembeault next year but who knows.Cayden Primeau gets a one-way contract from the #habs: Three years with an $890,000 AAV.

Montreal is working on a multi-year deal with Allen reported earlier this morning.
And I don't think it matters the one-way/two-way contract with a team like Montreal. They have the money to give Primeau and they're prolly thinking it's easier to keep him happy than it is to try and pinch pennies.

2021-22: $92,500 Signing Bonus. $832,500 Base Salary. $70,000 Minor League Salary (Last yr of ELC)
2022-23: $770,000 Base Salary (First yr of new deal)
2023-24: $800,000 Base Salary
2024-25: $1,100,000 Base Salary (Last yr of this deal)
Guy went from a $92,500+$70,000+ProRated NHL Salary (~$120k)= $282,500 salary to a $770,000 salary this yr. And he took a "cap hit" paycut. Pretty sweet deal for Primeau and knowing the MTL situation in front of him, he can be in the NHL pretty quickly.

Primeau is still waivers-exempt. The team should (and probably will) take full advantage of this. Next year they can make a decision. Worst case, waive/demote him with no cap penalty.

Yes, and Montembault hasn't exactly proven that he's a NHL goalie.
