This is mildly dissappointing. I thought he do more things at the NHL level but if the contract offers aren't there, then the SHL is a good fall back plan specially if you get to go back home.
Free agent Jonathan Dahlen has signed a five-year contract with Timra IK (SHL). The 24-year old had 22 pts in 61 GP for #SJSharks, was not qualified

Surprising there wasn't more interest. Produced at a decent clip for a younger Dman, you'd think someone would have some kind of interest. Maybe his new contract was something NHL teams weren't even close to ponying up... who knows.
I am guessing he got offers to stay - but nothing as good as the 5 year deal he got in Sweden.
Some players play for more than the money and I am sure NHL teams were not willing to spend big money and term on him.
So to get a 5 year contract compared to probable only 2 year deals in NHL - going home doesn't sound that bad to some.
Wondering if there's out clauses in the deal to come back after q certain point. Thought he would find a home - maybe down the road.
