Boy... we've been ragging on these over in the WHL fantasy league.
What's your favourite?


For me: Jonas Johansson - COL. He'll (apparently) start 1gp, play in 2... and win 3. That's amazing.
Three wins in two GP for Colorado.
I mean... one might think he has G1 potential for Colorado.

After all, by projections:
Georgiev is only going to win 15 of 45... and
Francouz is only going to win 16 of 36.

Tough year for Colorado only getting 33wins in their 82starts from their goalies...

my beef is general...it appears that all those are based on previous season stats and not taking anything else in consideration other than some long term injuries. they prioritize eliminating possibility of error vs getting proper predictions...

Yeah, I wonder how much work actually went into those projections. Did someone actually go through them or did they just go 'Screw it, make it a randomize 5% variance max and we'll go with that.'

I doubt there is a person reviewing them at all. Just a general formula thrown in a spread sheet and published.

My recollection is that their projections in the past were reasonable. This looks like a beta version - just spitting out last years numbers in many cases. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a major update at some point.

Even some of their write ups are completely off.

IE: Sean Couturier
"barring any setbacks, Couturier should be capable of once again being a 40-plus point scorer."

Admittedly 76pts is more than 40... so they're not 'wrong'

I guess if pressed they could inform someone who inquires what their sources are for the info .

when I think of Fantrax I imagine 4 guys programming out of Richards house (HBO's , Silicon Valley)
