That Cup finals loss was devastating to the team because everyone knew it was the last shot not only for Weber, but also Price. What heroic performances by those two, almost willing series after series win and inspiring the whole squad.
Price will go down as an all-time great next to Roy, Dryden and Plante. What a goalie. And were it not for that Kreider slip and fall, he probably has a Cup win to show for his efforts.

It's never fun seeing a great end his career due to injury, even worse when they attempt a comeback and fall short. We've seen 3 of the top goalies of the last 5+yrs have this happen to them (Bishop, Rask, Price). Sucks.

Price reinvented the way I analyse goalies. His positioning has always been so good and effortless that it seemed somewhat unfair to compare him to others. He'll always remain the most technically sound goaltender I've ever watched live. He might not be the one to make the most spectacular saves (though he has a few) but that was never his game.
Very sad with this news but hopefully Price makes the right decision for himself and his future.

He’s not officially ruled out… I think he’s too passionate about the game to not do everything in his power to come back.
Substance abuse, injuries, heartbreaking loses… the guy still would not stay down… I say we haven’t see the end of him and that’s why I kept him as my final keeper this year

I think this means Montreal desperately needs an upgrade in net. If your planned starter is Jake Allen, that's a mistake.
