Default Was This a Smart Move?

I'm in the league below and I made a trade that I thought, "I can't pass this up" but I'm a fringe playoff team. Top 4 make it, and I'm 6th sitting 5 games back from a playoff spot.

My Urquidy (SP), Buehler (SP), Suzuki (OF), 3rd round pick after keepers, 7th round after keepers

    for

S.Marte (OF), Burnes (SP), last 2 picks.

Additional question, what are your thoughts on moving JRod for Tatis? I'm a bit saturated at OF (Springer, Jimenez, Harris, JRod, Marte) and thinking if I move JRod for Tatis, I can keep Tatis as a SS.

I don't see how team doesn't make the above trade. Burnes is a top 5 SP and Walker is basically out for the year. I am surprised that was offered. Nice move.

As for the other deal, my only concern is Tatis' health. He has definitely proven to be injury prone and already has nagging shoulder issues. That looks to be more of an offseason move for me.

Agree that the trade is good. Burnes is a horse and Milwaukee will need him. Marte will continue to get runs and contribute in all categories.

As to Tatis, the thing that got him this year was a broken wrist. I do not gamble with wrist injuries in-season. Other thing is Tatis seems like the kind of guy who will steal bases when he's young, but will be less apt to do so as he continues to fill out. He's 6'3", I think you'll see him slow down and become more of a 10-15 SB guy than a 25 or more guy. Rodriguez is still in his big-guy-young-pup phase where he seems more willing to try for SBs and will be so for a few years more.

If you're keen on re-arranging the team, I think you'll get better results by trying to make that deal after the season. If Tatis is slow going after months off and a wrist injury, his price may be depressed this winter.

Tatis just got suspended 80 games for PEDs. Do not trade for him.

Lol yup! I had it sent to the GM all day and they never accepted or declined it. Then when the trade deadline past, Yahoo cancelled the trade.

    Got real lucky

So update on my playoff hunt.

top 4 teams make it. Top in each division are 1/2. So....When the trade happened I was 6th or 7th. I am now 4th.

    1st - 135-77-16
    2nd - 105-109-14 (div leader)
    3rd - 112-97-19
    4th - 117-103-8 (me)
    5th - 110-101-17
    6th - 106-102-20
7th - 103-109-16 (2nd in the other division. So they are close to the 2nd spot...if you care)
    8th - 101-113-14 (other division)

I am currently playing the 5th place team. After this week we have 2 more weeks and I face 2nd place and 3rd place. I control my own fate at least.

However, the trade is not looking good haha.
    Burnes - 15.1ip, 8.80ERA, 1.63WHIP, 8.22K/9, 0QS
    Marte - 16/56, 7r, 2HR, 8RBIs, 3SB, 286avg, 865OPS (at least he's doing well)
